A starting circuit arrangement in which a gas discharge lamp is assigned a supply circuit having at least one inductor arranged in series with the gas discharge lamp, wherein the starting circuit arrangement comprises a starting transformer connected on the primary side to a starting triggering circuit and connected on the secondary side to the lamp for the transmission of a starting pulse, an input energy source for the starting triggering circuit, a first switch means in the starting triggering circuit, an electronic control device which drives the first switch means. The starting circuit arrangement has, on the supply side, an input terminal connected in the supply circuit of the lamp between the inductor and the lamp, and a means provided for reproducing the phase profile of an AC supply variable of the lamp after starting of the lamp.

Starting device with two input poles

An ignition circuit arrangement and method for a discharge lamp, with which there is associated a supply circuit for providing an ac supply voltage to the lamp, includes an ignition transformer which is connected to a trigger circuit on the primary side and to the lamp on the secondary side for transmitting an ignition pulse; an input energy source for the ignition trigger circuit; a first switch means in the trigger circuit and a control means which actuates the first switch means. To assist with the ignition process, an energy storage means controllable by the control means, in particular a voltage source controllable by the control means, is arranged in the supply circuit in series with the gas-discharge lamp. The controllable energy storage means serves to provide an additional energy supply during the ignition process beyond the actual ac supply for the lamp.

Ignition device

The invention, which relates to a method for generating a starting voltage for a fluorescent lamp, in which the starting voltage is generated by means of alternating voltage that is impressed on an LC series resonant circuit, and to a corresponding circuit arrangement, is based on the object of increasing the reliability of starting and avoiding maximum permissible starting voltages being exceeded. According to the invention, this object is solved in that the frequency of the alternating-voltage generator can be controlled by a control unit and in that a measuring circuit is connected to the control unit, whereby the alternating voltage can be gradually reduced from a high frequency to a lower frequency, where the lamp voltage is compared to a setpoint value at certain intervals and the starting procedure terminated when the setpoint value is reached.

Method and circuit arrangement for producing an ignition voltage for fluorescent lamps

The invention relates to a method and ballast for operating a lamp ( ) fitted with a fluorescent tube ( ), whereby the operating data of certain recognizable lamp types (T , T , T , T ), at least the lamp voltage (U ), lamp current (I ) and preheating currents (I , I , I , I ) is stored in a register (R) for the heating of the electrodes. The preheating current (I , I , I , I ) are allocated to given areas of the resistance of the electrode (R >X), (Y&lE;R &lE;X), (Z&lE;R &lE;Y), the resistance of the electrode is measured during a preheating phase and the preheating current (I , I , I , I ) allocated to the measured resistance of the electrode (R ) is adjusted, whereby the fluorescent tube ( ) is operated or a given period with a dimming current (I ) of a known intensity within a given starting phase (S) occuring after the preheating phase (V), the existing voltage (U ) of the fluorescent tube is measured, the register (R) is searched for the lamp voltage (U , U , U , U , U ) that comes closest to the measured lamp voltage (U ) of the fluorescent tube ( ) and the operating data required for the operation of the fluorescent lamp ( ) and allocated to the measured lamp voltage (UL) by the register (R) is adjusted.

Method and ballast for operating a lamp fitted with a fluorescent tube

A device which enables a plurality of discharge lamps that are connected to a common ballast to be turned on and off separately via external switches. The operation circuit of the ballast is connected to the external switches through decouplers. The operation circuit may be supplied with voltage via any of the decouplers. A detector detects which of the switches has been closed and closes a logic member in the lamp circuit of the discharge lamp concerned. Consequently, the only lamp circuits that are closed are those in which the detectors have responded.

Ballast for supplying a plurality of discharge lamps

A d.c. voltage supply circuit including a flyback converter having an inductor which is alternatingly charged through an electronic switch and discharged via a diode onto a capacitor. The output voltage of the flyback converter is continuously monitored. If a threshold value is exceeded, the electronic switch, which is mounted in an input line of the flyback converter, is changed into the off-state. The off-state of the electronic switch is terminated as soon as the output voltage has again fallen below the threshold value. Loads requiring a specific d.c. voltage may be connected to different supply voltages without the need of changeovers. The circuit offers a high security in view of overvoltage from the power network. It is self-monitoring and protects the connected load.

D.C. voltage supply circuit for fluorescent lamps

A d.c. supply circuit containing a series-circuit composed of a switch and an inductor. A regulator circuit is provided to alternatingly drive the switch into conductive and nonconductive states. The control is performed by the inductor and responsive to current (i.sub.L). The series-circuit also includes an auxiliary switch, to which is connected, in parallel, a series-circuit formed by a diode and a capacitor. In short periods, in which the switch is conductive while the auxiliary switch is nonconductive, the capacitor is charged in order to generate the supply voltage for the regulator circuit.
