An identification transponder for transferring an identification code to a base station by varying an RF-signal transmitted by the base station in a rhythm which corresponds to the identification code. The identification transponder comprises an identification code generator, a rectifier; and a load transistor. The load transistor is arranged in such a manner that it performs two tasks: the task of rectifying the RF-signal to provide the DC supply voltage for the transponder, and the task of supplying a variable load to the rectifier to thereby vary the RF-signal transmitted by the base station.

Identification transponder

The present invention provides an n-phase integrated buck converter. The converter comprises a controller and a plurality of circuits each operably connected to the controller. The controller controls the plurality of circuits to respectively output a plurality of current signals each having an associated phase and generate an output voltage signal. By applying the n phase concept of the invention, the amount of current each phase (i.e., each of the plurality of circuits) has to deliver is reduced. This directly reduces the conduction losses in each phase. Because the current in each phase is lower, a smaller MOSFET in each of the plurality of circuits may be used. The smaller MOSFET is easier to switch. Therefore, the switching losses per phase are also reduced. Reducing these losses will enable the invention to achieve high efficiencies. Integration allows all of the components to become physically closer and capable of being switched faster. Faster switching frequencies allow for smaller and less passive components. Integration also minimizes the total cost of the converter.

Digitally controlled DC/DC converter

A converter for converting an input voltage (U,) into an output voltage (U,). The converter has several modes of operation. The converter can, for example, operate in an up-conversion mode, a down-conversion mode, or a window conversion mode. The converter has at least one switch (S,-S,) for controlling the converter so as to obtain a desired value of the output voltage (U,) in the up-conversion mode and in the down-conversion mode. This is achieved by changing the duty cycle of a binary signal (BS) which controls the switch (S,-S,). The converter further includes means (DMNS) for detecting the duty cycle of the binary signal (BS). This duty cycle is compared with a reference duty cycle (RFDCCL). The result of this comparison is used for deciding whether or not to change over from the up-conversion mode (or the down-conversion mode) to the window conversion mode. In the window conversion mode each switch (S,-S,) in the converter is permanently closed or open. In the window conversion mode the output voltage (U,) is roughly equal to the input voltage (U,). The converter remains in the window conversion mode as long as the output voltage (U,) is within a given voltage window (range). However, if the output voltage (U,) has become too low, the converter changes over from the window conversion mode to the up-conversion mode. In a similar way, the converter changes over from the window conversion mode to the down-conversion mode when the output voltage (U,) has become too high.

DC-DC converter, with duty cycle comparison for a dual mode back boost converter

A digitally controlled switched-mode voltage converter having conversion circuit (CMS) including a switching device (SW) for the purpose of converting an input voltage (U.sub.i) into an output voltage (U.sub.o); and a control device (CM) for controlling a duty cycle of the switching device (SM) in steps having discrete values (D.sub.c1,D.sub.c2). The control device (CM) include a change-over device (SO) for continually switching the duty cycle between at least two discrete values (D.sub.c1,D.sub.c2) in such a manner that the average value of the duty cycle corresponds to a target duty cycle (T.sub.dc).
