Provided herein are systems and methods for removing radon from a natural gas stream. The system includes a radon permeable membrane. The radon permeable membrane is configured to separate a natural gas stream into a radon rich permeate stream and a radon reduced retentate stream. The radon rich stream can be stored for a period of time to yield a decayed permeate stream or reinjected into the source formation. The system can include a second radon permeable membrane configured to separate the radon reduced retentate stream into a second permeable stream and a second retentate stream. The decayed permeate stream and second retentate stream can be combined to form a sales gas.

Radon level management of natural gas from unconventional and conventional resources

Methods and systems for recovering sulfur dioxide from a Claus unit process emissions stream are provided. The method comprises the steps of generating a process emissions stream from a thermal oxidizer or other combustion device, introducing the emissions stream to an SOremoval system, introducing the SOrich stream from the SOremoval system to a COremoval system, and introducing an enriched SOstream back to the Claus unit. The SOremoval system can include one or more SOselective membranes. The COremoval system can include one or more COselective membranes.

Improving sulfur recovery operations with processes based on novel COover SOselective membranes and its combinations with SOover COselective membranes

Methods are provided for reducing the quantity of acid gas reinjected into a reservoir by partial COremoval processes. The methods include acid gas removal, acid gas enrichment, generation of a COrich stream and an HS rich stream, and reinjection of the HS rich stream into the reservoir. The acid gas enrichment can be performed by a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit, a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit, or a combination of a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit a and membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit. The system includes an acid gas removal unit, one or more acid gas enrichment units, and an acid gas reinjection compressor. The acid gas enrichment unit can be a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit, a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit, or a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit and a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit.

Methods and systems are provided for treating the tail gas stream of a sulfur recovery plant. The methods including generating a tail gas stream from a sulfur recovery plant, treating the tail gas stream with a hydrogen sulfide removal unit and a hydrogen selective membrane unit, generating a stream low in hydrogen sulfide and a stream rich in hydrogen. The hydrogen sulfide rich stream is recycled to the sulfur recovery unit. Enhancement of claus tail gas treatment by sulfur dioxide-selective membrane technology and sulfur dioxide-selective absorption technology

Compositions of and methods for separating components of a natural gas stream are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving an inlet stream comprising natural gas, the inlet stream having an inlet pressure, and the inlet stream further comprising methane, helium, and an impurity. The method includes allowing the inlet stream to contact a block co-polyimide membrane, the block co-polyimide membrane exhibiting both higher permeability for and higher selectivity for the helium and the impurity than for the methane at the inlet pressure of the inlet stream and separating the methane from the helium and the impurity to create a retentate stream, the retentate stream comprising an increased concentration of methane relative to the inlet stream. The method also includes creating a permeate stream comprising the helium and the impurity at an increased concentration of helium and impurity relative to a concentration of helium and impurity in the inlet stream.
