A configurable passive mixer is described herein. According to one exemplary embodiment, a passive mixer for a wireless receiver comprises a plurality of passive mixer cores coupled in parallel with each mixer core configured to receive a same set of radio frequency input signals and a separately driven set of local oscillator input signals. Further, each mixer core is configured to be separately enabled or disabled so that the passive mixer can be selectively configured during operation to convert the same set of radio frequency input signals to a set of downconverted output signals that satisfy a certain performance requirement or performance parameter of the passive mixer.

Re-configurable passive mixer for wireless receivers

An amplifier for a receiver circuit is disclosed. The amplifier has an input node (V) and an output node (V). It comprises a tunable tank circuit connected to the output node (V), a feedback circuit path connected between the output node (V) and the input node (V), and a tunable capacitor connected between an internal node of the feedback circuit path and a reference-voltage node. A receiver circuit and a communication apparatus is disclosed as well.

Amplifier

A technique for cancelling or reducing crosstalk signals between controlled oscillators in an integrated circuit is provided. The technique involves an arrangement adapted to reduce a crosstalk signal generated by a first controlled oscillator to a second oscillator both comprised in the integrated circuit, wherein both controlled oscillators are configured to output a respective clock signal. The arrangement comprises a detector adapted to detect the crosstalk signal generated by the first controlled oscillator to the second controlled oscillator, a crosstalk cancellation circuit adapted to generate a cancellation signal having an amplitude substantially the same as that of the crosstalk signal and a phase substantially opposite to that of the crosstalk signal, and a cancellation signal injector adapted to introduce the cancellation signal into the second controlled oscillator.

Technique for crosstalk reduction

A passable latch circuit and variable delay chains built with one or more passable latch circuits are disclosed. The passable latch circuit has a dynamic latch including a first P-transistor, a first N-transistor, a second P-transistor, a second N-transistor and a clock input circuitry. The passable latch circuit further includes a control switch connected between the gates of the second P-transistor and the second N-transistor. The control switch has an on state and an off state, and the passable latch circuit is configured to have different delays by controlling the state of the control switch.

Beamforming receiver

An attenuator for attenuating a signal is disclosed. The attenuator comprises a differential input port with a positive input node and a negative input node to receive the signal; and a differential output port with a positive output node and a negative output node to output the attenuated signal. The attenuator further comprises a first switched resistor network connected between the positive input node and the positive output node; and a second switched resistor network connected between the negative input node and the negative output node. Further a pair of compensation paths is connected to the first and second switched resistor networks for cancellation their parasitic leakages, where a first compensation path is connected between the positive input node and the negative output node, and a second compensation path is connected between the negative input node and the positive output node. The attenuator further comprises a control circuit to generate control signals for controlling the first and second switched resistor networks.

Attenuator

A circuit for calibration measurements comprises a first and a second current source arranged to provide current outputs; a resistor connected between the first current source and a reference voltage; a capacitor connected between the second current source and the reference voltage; a discharge switch connected in parallel with the capacitor and arranged to selectively discharge the capacitor; a comparator circuit arranged to compare voltages across the resistor and the capacitor and output a signal when voltage across the capacitor reaches the voltage across the resistor; and a controller having a clock signal input and connected to the output of the comparator circuit. The controller is arranged to control the discharge switch to discharge the capacitor, change state of the switch to enable charging of the capacitor and count clock signal pulses until the comparator provides the signal when voltage across the capacitor reaches the voltage across the resistor, wherein the controller is arranged to determine a calibration measurement from counted number of clock signal pulses. A method, computer program and electronic device are also disclosed.

A transmitter comprising a power amplifier, a phase modulator, a switched DC-DC converter, all operating in dual mode, and a controller is disclosed. The power amplifier is arranged to selectively operate either in a first mode or in a second mode, wherein the first mode is a linear mode and the second mode is a non-linear mode in order to save power with least increasing cost in hardware. The transmitter is adapted to operate at different allocated bandwidths, for different radio standards while keeping minimum power consumption governed by the controller. A transceiver, a communication device, a method and a computer program are also disclosed.

Selective power amplifier

A Phase Rotator and Amplitude control Unit, PRAU (), for performing phase rotation and amplitude control of an input signal and generating an output signal with an individual phase shift is disclosed. The PRAU () comprises a plurality N1 of Phase Rotator and Amplitude control Circuits, PRAC. Each PRAC comprises an input port comprising in-phase and quadrature-phase inputs to receive the input signal; an output port comprising in-phase and quadrature-phase outputs, control inputs to receive phase and amplitude control parameters. The phase and amplitude control parameters comprise sign control signals and positive amplitude coefficient signals, and each positive amplitude coefficient signal has N1 digital bits. Each PRAC further comprises a plurality of switched transconductance branches, and each switched transconductance branch comprises one transconductance transistor connected in series with two switching transistors.

Phase rotation and amplitude control unit

A receiver front end arrangement comprises a radio frequency signal input suitable to be connected to an antenna arrangement, a filter bank of non-overlapping band filters associated with respective band for the multi-band reception, a signal conditioning arrangement connected to the filter bank, and a low-noise amplifier arrangement connected to the signal conditioning arrangement. The low-noise amplifier arrangement comprises a path for each band of bands of the multi-band reception. For each path associated with a band for the multi-band reception the low-noise amplifier arrangement comprises a low-noise amplifier. The respective low-noise amplifier has band pass characteristics, or has a band filter connected where the band filter output has a direct connection to the input of the low-noise amplifier, corresponding to a band of the multi-band reception, respectively. The receiver front end arrangement further comprises a combiner structure arranged to combine the outputs of the respective low-noise amplifier of the paths of the low-noise amplifier arrangement. The signals at the output of the combiner structure have the same frequencies as the corresponding signals at the radio signal input. The signal conditioning arrangement is arranged to condition signals for respective path of the low-noise amplifier arrangement. A multi-band receiver comprising the receiver front end arrangement, and a base station comprising the multi-band receiver are also disclosed.
