An electromagnetic wave absorption structure includes at least two electromagnetic wave composite absorbing layers stacked and overlapped with each other. Each of the electromagnetic wave composite absorbing layers comprises a conductive composite layer and an insulating layer, and the insulating layer is stacked and overlapped with the conductive composite layer. The conductive composite layer comprises a plurality of conductive layers and a plurality of interlayer insulating layers, and the conductive layers and the interlayer insulating layers are stacked in a staggered manner. The ratio of a thickness of one of the plurality of insulating layers to a thickness of one of the plurality of interlayer insulating layers is greater than or equal to 20.

Electromagnetic wave absorption structure

A voltage regulator includes a first portion with a first converter phase and a second portion with second and third converter phases, and a compensation inductor. The first converter phase receives an input voltage and provides an output voltage through a first inductor. The second converter phase receives the input voltage and provides the output voltage through a first primary winding of a first coupled inductor. The first coupled inductor includes a first secondary winding magnetically coupled to the first primary winding. The third converter phase receives the input voltage and provides the output voltage through a second primary winding of a second coupled inductor. The second coupled inductor includes a second secondary winding magnetically coupled to the second primary winding. The compensation inductor, first secondary winding, and of the second secondary winding are coupled in series between a ground plane.

Hybrid voltage regulator architecture

Monolithic power stage (Pstage) packages and methods for using same are provided that may be implemented to provide lower thermal resistance/enhanced thermal performance, reduced noise, and/or smaller package footprint than conventional monolithic Pstage packages. The conductive pads of the disclosed Pstage packages may be provided with a larger surface area for contacting respective conductive layers of a mated PCB to provide a more effective and increased heat transfer away from a monolithic Pstage package. In one example, the increased heat transfer away from the monolithic Pstage package results in lower monolithic Pstage package operating temperature and increased power output. In another example, a monolithic Pstage package may be provided with an adaptive application-oriented interface and a multi-function pin that allows the same monolithic Pstage package to automatically detect and select between a relatively higher power information handling system application, and a relatively lower power information handling system VR application.

Monolithic Pstages and methods for voltage regulators

An electromagnetic wave absorption structure includes at least one electromagnetic wave composite absorbing layer. The electromagnetic wave composite absorbing layer includes a conductive composite layer and an insulating layer. The insulating layer is stacked and overlapped with the conductive composite layer. The electromagnetic wave absorption structure can provide good electromagnetic wave absorption function, and have the features of light and thin, so it is particularly suitable for satisfying the electromagnetic wave absorption or shielding requirements of thin electronic products.

A power stage includes a power converter having high- and low-side switches, a driver circuit that drives the switching power converter based upon a PWM signal, and a current sensing circuit that detects a low-side current level on the low-side switch, and provides a current level signal that includes the low-side current level. The power stage turns on the low-side switch at a first time, and estimates a first low-side current level at the first time. In estimating the first low-side current level, the power stage detects a second low-side current level at a second time while the low-side switch is turned on, the second time being after the first time, and detects a third low-side current level at a third time while the low-side switch is turned on, wherein the third time is after the second time. The first low-side current level is estimated based upon the second and third low-side current levels.

System and method for power stage current-sense accuracy improvement in a power system

A voltage regulator configuration system includes a voltage regulator module that is coupled to a processing system and that is configured to provide a voltage to the processing system. A Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) that is also coupled to the processing system and the BIOS identifies a processing system mode in which the processing system is operating and identifies a voltage regulator module configuration for the voltage regulator module based on the processing system mode. The BIOS transmits a voltage regulator module configuration command that includes the voltage regulator module configuration to a remote access controller. The remote access controller configures the voltage regulator module with the voltage regulator module configuration.

An information handling system (IHS) includes temperature-compensated power control by a voltage regulation (VR) module to: (i) receive a monitored current (Imon) value from a current sensor integrated into the VR module; (ii) receive a temperature value from the temperature sensor also integrated into the VR module; (iii) determine a temperature-compensated Imon value based at least in part on the Imon value, the temperature value, and an empirically-derived temperature coefficient defined at the Imon value and the temperature value; and (iv) control the voltage-regulated power at least in part based on the temperature-compensated Imon value. The empirically-derived temperature coefficient adjusts for nonlinear portions of temperature coupling relationship between a portion of an integrated circuit (IC) die that can include the current sensor and the temperature sensor and a temperature experienced by by active portion of VR module.

Current sense accuracy improvement for MOSFET RDS (on) sense based voltage regulator by adaptive temperature compensation

A method and an information handling system (IHS) perform current calibration of a multi-phase voltage regulator (VR) by using a calibrated operating phase to calibrate an unknown operating phase. A calibration controller, using a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, enables a first unknown operating phase within a first converter sub-circuit in the multiphase VR. The calibration controller enables a calibrated circuit component electronically coupled to the first unknown operating phase. The calibration controller determines a target voltage for the first unknown operating phase based on sense component specifications. The calibration controller determines, for the first unknown operating phase, a sense voltage that identifies the first unknown operating phase as a first evaluated operating phase. The calibration controller performs calibration of operating phases of the multi-phase VR, including the first evaluated operating phase, based on a respective difference between a sense voltage and a corresponding target voltage for each operating phase.

Per-phase current calibration method for a multi-phase voltage regulator

An information handling system (IHS) performs current calibration of a multi-phase VR using leakage current as a reference current. The IHS includes a multi-phase voltage regulator (VR) module coupled to an output port of a power supply unit (PSU). The VR module includes: a multi-phase VR having an integrated power stage that provides pulse width modulation (PWM) functionality for controlling operating phases of VR current in the multi-phase VR; and a digital controller coupled to the multi-phase VR. The controller: enables a known, high accuracy operating phase as loading calibrator for offset training; records a leakage current value as a reference current; enables a first unknown, low accuracy operating phase; determines, for the unknown operating phase, an offset value that provides a specified target current accuracy; updates an offset register for the unknown operating phase with the corresponding offset value; and disables the unknown operating phase.

Systems and methods for reducing the line frequency ripple in a resonant converter are described. In some embodiments, a power supply includes a switching network; an LLC resonant tank coupled to the switching network; a rectifier coupled to the LLC resonant tank; and a control circuit coupled to the switching network and to the rectifier, where the control circuit is configured to modify an operating frequency of the switching network to reduce a line frequency ripple at an output of the rectifier.

Systems and methods for operating a switching converter are disclosed. The switching converter includes a high-side transistor coupled between a voltage input and a switching node and a low-side transistor coupled between the switching node and ground. The switching converter also includes a high-side driver coupled to drive a gate of the high-side transistor, a charge pump coupled to the high-side driver, and a bootstrap circuit, which includes a pass transistor coupled between the charge pump and the switching node, and a pull-down transistor coupled between the charge pump and ground.
