A card edge connector includes an elongated housing with a pair of latches disposed at opposite ends thereof and defining a mating groove in the housing and between said pair of latches. A first wall and a second wall are formed at opposite sides of the mating groove, on which a plurality of conductive terminals are mounted. A key protrudes into the mating groove from the first wall with a distal end sinking into the second such that the second wall can be molded in an uninterrupted manner without the joint of the key.

An electrical connector assembly () for connecting electrically plural cards to a PCB () includes at least one first connector () and at least one first latch () for positioning at least one first card () therebetween in a parallel relation with the PCB in which a first card inserting direction and a first card positioning position are defined; at least one second connector () and at least one second latch () for positioning at least one second card () therebetween in a parallel relation with the PCB in which a second card inserting direction and a second card positioning position are defined; the first card inserting direction is intersectant with the second card inserting direction; and the first card positioning position and the second card positioning position are in different levels above the PCB.

Electrical connector assembly

The latching mechanism includes an insulative fixing device, a metallic spring latching device and a metallic grounding device, wherein the fixing device includes the card supporting portion and a positioning post upwardly extending therefrom corresponding to the positioning hole of the electronic card. The latching device includes a connection portion connected to the fixing device, the spring arm extending from the connection portion and the hook portion located on the spring arm and extending toward the card edge connector for locking the rear portion of the electronic card. The grounding device is electrically connected to the latching device and includes mounting legs mechanically and electrically engaged with the corresponding grounding pads formed on the printed circuit board for grounding.
