An electrical connector () includes a number of contact wafers () stacked with each other along a transverse direction. Each contact wafer includes a conductive body, one or more shielding members () mounted to and electrically connecting with the conductive body, and a number of contact modules each including an insulator () and a pair of contacts () fixed by the insulator, the pair of contacts of each contact module being shielded by the conductive body and the one or more shielding members.

High speed high density connector assembly

An electrical connector () includes a conductive body (), and a plurality of contact modules mounted on the body, each of the contact modules comprising a plurality of contacts (), a shielding member () and an insulator () for fixing the contacts. The conductive body electrically connects with the shielding member and is insulated with the contacts.

An electrical connector assembly () includes a first connector () and a second connector (). The first connector includes a first conductive body () including a first mounting face, a plurality of first contacts (), a plurality of first shielding members (), and a plurality first insulator (). The second connector () includes a second conductive body () for being mated with the first conductive body and including a second mounting face, a plurality of second contacts () and mated with the first contacts, a plurality of second shielding members (), and a plurality second insulator (). A total transmitting traces of the first contacts and the second contacts between the first mating face and the second mating face are circumferentially fully shielded.

An electrical connector assembly includes plural wafers that are stacked. Each wafer includes a conductive board defining plural slots therein, and plural contact modules each received in one of the slots. The conductive board is made from plastic coated with metal plating to improve shielding performance. Each of the contact modules includes a pair of contacts and an insulating holder fixing the contact pair to the conductive board. The insulating holder is differently void along the contact pairs to improve impedance.

An optical backplane assembly () includes a backplane (), a first switch card (), a second switch card () disposed on one side of the first switch card, a plurality of first line cards disposed on the other side of the first switch card, and a first optical assembly () including a plurality of first optical channels () and a plurality of second optical channels () overlapped with the first optical channel. A high speed connector assembly includes a header and a receptacle. The header includes an array of first contacts arranged in lines and columns, each line of first contacts being grouped in pairs, each of the first contacts having a contacting portion and a number of first shields arranged besides corresponding lines of the first contacts, each of the first shields having a contacting portion. The receptacle has a main body. The main body defines a front face and a number of receiving holes in the front face. The contact portions of each pair of the first contacts and corresponding first shield are received in the same one of the receiving holes when the header and the receptacle are mated.

An electrical contact () includes a first beam (), a second beam (), and a receiving cavity () defined between the first beam and the second beam. The first beam has a first mating face () facing to the receiving cavity, and the second beam has a second mating face () facing to the receiving cavity. The first mating face cooperates with the second mating face to form a first mating area to clamp a first area of a mating contact. The first beam has a third mating face (). The third mating face forms a second mating area facing sidewardly to abut against a second area of a mating contact. The first beam projects sidewardly to form the third mating face.

Electrical connector having versatile contact mating surfaces

An electrical connector () includes a housing () and a number of contacts () mounted on the housing. The housing includes a mounting portion (), and a receiving room () on one side of the mounting portion. Each of the contacts () includes a body portion () mounted on the mounting portion, and a mating portion () extending form the body portion and projecting into the receiving room. The mounting portion includes a number of mounting slot () each including a first slot () and a second slot () crossed with the first slot. The contacts are selectively mounted on either the first slots or the second slots.

Electrical connector for broadside coupled or edge coupled mating with mating connector

An electrical connector comprises a printed circuit board () having a rear edge connected to the cable () and a front edge opposite to the rear edge, a number of upper contact modules () stacked along the front edge on a top side () of the printed circuit board (), and a number of lower contact modules () stacked along the front edge on a bottom sideof the printed circuit board (). Each of the contact modules () has a conductor pairs () for transferring signal differential pairs lined along a column direction perpendicular to the printed circuit board () and an insulator () encapsulating a portion of each conductor () of the conductor pairs.

An electrical connector () includes a housing having a securing structure and a number of contacts (). The securing structure defines a number of passageways () each extending therethrough along a thickness direction thereof, a number of securing recesses () each across and in communication with a corresponding passageway along a width direction thereof, and a number of air pockets () each across and in alignment with a corresponding passageway along a length direction thereof. Each contact has a body portion () inserted through the passageway, and a widen portion () secured in the securing recess and facing a corresponding air pocket.

The first mating portion includes a first mating surface (). The second mating portion includes a second mating surface (). Each of the contacts includes a twisted portion () between the first mating portion and the second mating portion that make the first mating surface perpendicular to the second mating surface.

Electrical connector with improved signal transmitting performance

An electrical connector () includes a middle board () defining a plurality of receiving holes (), a first insulative housing () mounted on one side of the middle board and defining a first receiving room (), and a number of contacts () mounted on the first insulative housing. The contacts include a number of signal contacts (S) and a number of grounding contacts (G). Each of contacts includes a first mating portion (), a second mating portion (), and a middle portion () between the first and the second mating portions. The middle portions extend beyond the first insulative housing and are received in the receiving holes. Each of the middle portions of the signal contacts is solid. Each of the middle portions of the grounding contacts has a through hole () and has an outer profile wider than that of middle portion of the signal contact.

Electrical connector with improved impedance continuity

An electrical connector () includes a first contact module (), a second contact module (), and a shielding plate () disposed adjacent to the second contact module. The first contact module includes a first insulative body () and a number of first contacts () mounted on the first insulative body. Each of the first contacts includes a first contact portion () extending beyond the first insulative body. The second contact module includes a second insulative body () and a number of second contacts () mounted on the second insulative body. Each of the second contacts includes a second contact portion () extending beyond the second insulative body. A shield plate is disposed adjacent to a side of the second contact module, and the first insulative housing is disposed adjacent to an opposite side of the second insulative housing. The electrical connector is devoid of shield between the first contact module and the second module.

Electrical connector having reduced number of shields

An electrical connector has an insulative housing () having a front face () and a rear face (), a number of terminal modules () mounted to the insulative housing in a back-to-front direction. The terminal module has a base (), a number of terminals () and grounding contacts () exposed from the base and located adjacent to one another. Each terminal has a mounting end () and a mating end (). The grounding contact has a tail () and a contacting portion (). The mounting ends of the terminals are positioned along a back-to-front mounting face. The mating ends of the terminals are located in a second plane parallel to said back-to-front mounting face. The contacting portions of the grounding contacts are lied in a third plane parallel to the second plane.

Electrical connector having improved terminal module

An electrical connector () includes an insulating housing () and a number of plate wafers () vertically stacked behind the insulating housing (). Each of the plate wafers () includes a frame () and a plurality of conductive contacts () secured by said frame (). The conductive contacts () of each plate wafer () have press-fit portions () disposed along a first length. The frame () forms a rib () extending over the first length along said lower edge of the frame () so that a tooling () can press on a top face of the rib () when the electrical connector () is mounted onto the printed circuit board. The insulating housing () forms a plurality of engaging portions () extending a second length backwardly from the rear face () above said rib (). The second length does not overlap the first length in a vertical direction, so that the tooling () can be downwardly inserted between adjacent wafers () and press on a top face of the rib () of the frame ().
