Methods, apparatuses and systems for providing gas detecting apparatuses (e.g., electrochemical detectors) are disclosed herein. An example gas detecting apparatus may comprise a sensing component comprising: a first sensing electrode configured to generate a first concentration level indication associated with a first portion of a sample gaseous substance disposed within the sensing component; and a second sensing electrode operatively coupled to a filtering element that is configured to absorb at least one substance from the sample gaseous substance, wherein the second sensing electrode is configured to generate a second concentration level indication associated with a second portion of the sample gaseous substance.

The method may also include monitoring a signal from the photoionization detector. The signal may be monitored based on a current between a signal electrode and a bias electrode. In an instance the signal is above a signal threshold, the method may also include electrolyzing one or more particles of water present in the photoionization detector by closing a leakage switch in order to allow current to flow through the bias electrode and the signal electrode. In an instance the signal is below the signal threshold, the method may include powering on the lamp to begin photoionization detection. Corresponding systems are also provided.

An analysis method is disclosed for detecting a measurement error of operating parameters of a gas turbine. An embodiment of the method includes: obtaining multiple measured values of the operating parameters, the operating parameters being at least part of the variables of multiple functions, each of the functions including analysis ranges; putting the measured values of the operating parameters into the functions whose variables include the operating parameters to calculate the results of the functions; comparing the calculated results of the functions with the analysis ranges of the corresponding functions; identifying one or more measured values of operating parameters who are at least part of the variables of the functions whose calculated results fail to fall within the analysis ranges of the corresponding functions; and determining a measured value of an operating parameter including the highest likelihood of a measurement error.

The present invention relates to an optical interferometer based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer that can be used as an optical channel interleaver in wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) and dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) optical networks. Optical channel interleavers/de-interleavers combine sets of WDM and DWDM channels for transmission over a network and/or separate WDM and DWDM signals into sets of channels with more convenient channel spacing for further de-multiplexing. The interferometer according to the present invention utilizes a ring resonator in each arm thereof as a phase shifter to provide a flat-top wavelength response with wide pass-bands and stop-bands.

The invention provides a simple temperature insensitive optical retarder (waveplate) having a first and a second wedge shaped birefringent crystals, and a crystal mount comprising a first material having a low thermal expansion coefficient and a second material having a high thermal expansion coefficient, wherein the first and the second wedge shaped birefringent crystals are attached onto the first and second materials, respectively, so that the total retardance by the first and second birefringent crystals at a first temperature is substantially the same as that at a second different temperature at a given wavelength. Advantageously, the temperature insensitive optical retarder is simple, easy to construct, can be used for any birefringent crystal and does not require the use of different birefringent crystals.
