Some disclosed systems may include a microphone system having two or more microphones, an interface system and a control system. In some examples, the control system may be capable of receiving, via the interface system, audio data from two or more microphones of the microphone system, of determining a gesture location based, at least in part, on the audio data and of controlling one or more settings of the system based on the gesture location.

Audio-based device control

The predicted explosive growth in the number of wireless devices and mobile applications utilizing wireless networks makes it time for engineers to face the high network densification challenge where massive numbers of terminal devices (TDs) coexist and require both high-rate and low-latency wireless data transmissions. We describe a multiple access point (AP) Time-Reversal Division Multiple Access (TRDMA) downlink system that utilizes the natural spatial and temporal focusing properties of Time Reversal (TR) based communications, where the interference to unintended receivers is automatically at least partially mitigated. As a result, in some implementations, the TRDMA system can achieve full or nearly-full spectrum reuse without any coordination among APs. The performance of the TRDMA system is investigated in both an open access model where an AP is open to all the TDs and a closed access model where an AP is only open to specific TDs. It is shown that in the open access model, the TRDMA system can be easily extended by adding more APs to fit various scenarios. In the closed access model, the TRDMA system is failure-robust such that the performance degradation caused by neighboring APs is graceful. Moreover, the packet delay of the TRDMA system can be much lower than that of the IEEE 802.11 based system.

Time-reversal scalability for high network densification

Aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in a fall detection device and method. One or more motion sensors can access a user's acceleration data. The acceleration data can be segmented using a segmentation algorithm to identify a potential fall event. The segmentation algorithm can determine a cumulative sum of the acceleration data, where the cumulative sum is based on acceleration values being greater than or less than an acceleration threshold value, and a potential fall event can be identified where the cumulative sum is greater than a cumulative sum threshold value. Statistical features can be extracted from the segmented acceleration data and aggregated, and a determination can be made as to whether the potential fall event is a fall event based at least in part on the statistical features.

Devices and methods for fall detection based on phase segmentation

There is provided a communication system including a transmitting section and a receiving section which includes a plurality of receivers. The transmitting section includes a communication unit which receives a plurality of signals respectively from the plurality of receivers, and stores a plurality of time-reversed signals corresponding to the received plurality of signals with respect to the plurality of receivers, and a first conversion unit which converts, by a first factor, a plurality of information sequences to be respectively transmitted to the plurality of receivers and forward the plurality of converted information sequences to the communication unit. The communication unit generates, based on the plurality of converted information sequences, a plurality of output signals to be respectively transmitted to the plurality of receivers, each of the plurality of the output signals including a location-specific signature unique to the corresponding receiver.

Systems and methods for time-reversal division multiple access wireless broadband communications

In an asymmetric time-reversal wireless system, a base station includes an input circuit configured to, during a hand-shake period, receive a channel response signal derived from a probe signal sent from a first terminal device to the apparatus through multiple wireless propagation paths, and during an uplink transmission period, receive combined signals that include a signal from the first terminal device and a signal from a second terminal device. The base station includes a data processor configured to calculate a signature waveform for the first terminal device based on the channel response, and determine the signal sent from the first terminal device during the uplink transmission period based on the combined signals and the signature waveform for the first terminal device.

Time-reversal wireless systems having asymmetric architecture

A handshaking process for time-reversal wireless communication is provided. A first device receives a handshake signal transmitted from a second device through multiple propagation paths, the handshake signal including a preamble and a training sequence, in which the training sequence includes a sequence of symbols known to the first and second devices. A synchronization index is determined based on the preamble, and the training sequence in the handshake signal is identified based on the synchronization index. A channel response signal is determined based on the received training sequence, and a signature waveform that is a time-reversed signal of the channel response signal is generated. A transmission signal is generated based on transmit data and the signature waveform, in which the transmit data are data configured to be transmitted to the second device.

Handshaking protocol for time-reversal system

Aspects for balancing power output on the plurality of antennas for the transmission of a transport block are disclosed. In accordance with the present disclosure, a transmitter may balance the power output on a plurality of transmit antennas in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system by having a precoded data block bypass a virtual antenna mapping of the overhead channels (e.g., control channels). Additionally or alternatively, the transmitter may balance the power output on the plurality of transmit antennas by applying an inverse mapping parameter during the precoding process to the transport block to generate a plurality of inverse mapped precoded data blocks. In some examples, the inverse mapping parameter may be an inverse of the mapping parameter. Thus, in accordance with the present disclosure, precoding a transport block may include selecting a precoding weight for each of the plurality of antennas from an unrestricted precoding weight set.

Hybrid virtual antenna mapping for multiple-input multiple-output system

In a time-reversal wireless system, a transceiver receives a combined signal that includes signals from a plurality of devices, each device sending a signal to the transceiver through multiple wireless propagation paths. Signals sent from each of the devices are estimated based on the combined signal and a signature waveform associated with the device. Interference associated with the estimated signal from each of the devices is determined based on the estimated signals from the devices. The signal sent from each of the devices is determined by subtracting the interference associated with the estimated signal associated with the device from the estimated signal associated with the device.

Multiuser time-reversal division multiple access uplink system with parallel interference cancellation

Aspects described herein relate to selecting a rank for wireless communications using multiple transmit antenna layers. A first effective throughput achievable using a first rank and based at least in part on a first block error rate (BLER) associated with the first rank can be estimated along with a second effective throughput achievable using a second rank and based at least in part on a second BLER associated with the second rank. The first rank or second rank is selected to be used for transmitting communications over multiple transmit antenna layers based at least in part on comparing the first effective throughput to the second effective throughput, and the selection can be indicated to a transmitting entity from which the communications over the multiple transmit antenna layers are received.
