A system for lifting a wind turbine rotor blade, including a wind turbine rotor blade, a lifting device having a sling, the sling supporting the wind turbine rotor blade at a longitudinal position where the wind turbine rotor blade has an aerodynamic profile, a leading edge and a profile chord arranged horizontally, and a leading edge protector having a front portion placed at the leading edge and a lower leg extending from the front portion and placed below the wind turbine rotor blade, wherein the front portion and the lower leg are formed as a sandwich construction having an inner top layer, an outer top layer and a core material, wherein a thickness of the core material increases from a free end of the lower leg towards the front portion in order to reduce a deformation of the wind turbine rotor blade at the leading edge.

System for lifting a wind turbine rotor blade

The disclosure relates to a wind turbine rotor blade, including an aerodynamic add-on element comprising a baseplate, the baseplate having an upper side and a bottom side, wherein the aerodynamic add-on element is mounted with the bottom side of the baseplate to an outer surface of the wind turbine rotor blade, at least a section of the bottom side is inclined relative to the outer surface of the wind turbine rotor blade along a downstream direction of an operational wind flow, such that a gap is formed between the at least one section and the outer surface in which a distance between the outer surface and the bottom side increases along the downstream direction, and adhesive is provided in the gap to bond the aerodynamic add-on element to the outer surface of the wind turbine rotor blade. The disclosure also relates to an aerodynamic add-on element.

A shear web for stiffening a rotor blade includes: a first flange for connecting to a first half-shell, a second flange for connecting to a second half-shell, a core having an end facing the first half-shell, a further end facing the second half-shell, a front side facing a profile leading edge, and a rear side facing a profile trailing edge, a layer of reinforcing fibers having a portion on the rear side and a further portion on the first end and extending toward the profile leading edge, such that the further portion forms part of the first flange, and a further layer having a portion arranged on the front side of the core, and a further portion arranged on the second end of the core and extending from there further toward the profile trailing edge, such that the further portion forms part of the second flange.
