In a corrugated cardboard machine and in a method of producing a web of corrugated cardboard, an electronic control device is provided in order to avoid downtimes of the corrugated cardboard machine, said control device being designed such that at least one web length of the web of corrugated cardboard between the at least one production device and a longitudinal cutting device is detectable and an application width of the at least one production device is variable in dependence on the at least one web length. Changing the application width prevents an escape of glue from the sides so that there is no need for cleaning.

Corrugated cardboard machine and method of producing an endless web of corrugated cardboard

In a method for splicing material webs and an associated splicing device it is envisaged, for producing an improved joint, to join the material webs in the area of cut edges essentially overlap-free to form an endless material web, the cut edges being produced by cutting the material webs at least along a first cutting direction and along a second cutting direction, and the cutting directions enclosing an angle &#x3b1; such that 0&#xb0;&#x3c;&#x3b1;&#x3c;180&#xb0; applies.

A method of implementing a change of format in a system for cutting sheets of corrugated board comprises the application of at least three first longitudinal cuts by a first group of longitudinal-cutter tool and at least three second longitudinal cuts by a second group of longitudinal-cutter tools. All the three longitudinal cuts overlap one another in the conveying direction. In this way, the corrugated board can be exploited more efficiently in the area of format change.

A cross cutter for web stock, in particular for a corrugated cardboard web, has tube-shaped cutter cylinders (4, 5) formed of a composite fiber material which are rotatably mounted in pairs above each other in a machine frame (2, 3). Cutter holders (15) for cutters (16) are fastened on the cutter cylinders, which are disposed along the circumference of each cutter cylinder extending diagonally. Counterweights (17) are located on the cutter cylinders opposite the cutter holders. The cutter cylinders mesh with each other via gear wheels (10), by which the cutter cylinders can be driven. The cutter cylinders (4, 5), the cutter holders (15) and the counterweights (17) are made of a composite fiber material with a heat expansion coefficient near or equal to 0 mm/K. The bearings (7) at both ends of the cutter cylinders are fixed bearings. Because of the reduced flexing of the cutter cylinders, the optimum quality of the cut and, because of the reduced mass inertia moment, a reduced energy absorption can be attained by this.

An apparatus for the manufacture of sheets of corrugated board of variable size comprises a cross cutter for severing the entire web of corrugated board disposed, in the conveying direction of a web of corrugated board, downstream of at least one longitudinal cutting arrangement, of cutting devices for cutting lateral margins and of discharge devices for the margins cut off, and upstream of at least one cross cutting arrangement for cutting sheets of corrugated board.

A heating unit for a corrugated board manufacturing plant comprises heating elements which consist of a comparatively thin heating plate and a supporting structure disposed at a distance from, and below, the latter. The heating plate is supported on the supporting structure by thermally insulating props. Furthermore, a heat insulation layer is disposed between the respective heating plate and the supporting structure.
