A magnesium alloy material includes magnesium; more than 1 wt. % manganese; and at least one sp-metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, cadmium, mercury, gallium, indium, thallium, germanium, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony, and bismuth, wherein the manganese and the at least one sp-metal together are a maximum of 5 wt. % of the alloy material. The magnesium materials are resistant to corrosion and are especially useful in articles exposed to aqueous electrolytes during use or production.

A molten carbonate fuel cell is constructed of plural stacked individual cell units, that each respectively include a porous, electrolyte saturated matrix (3) sandwiched between a cathode (2) and an anode (4), and current collectors (5, 6) respectively arranged between the anode (4) and a first separator plate (7), and between the cathode (2) and a second separator plate (8). Especially the cathode current collector (6) includes a stainless steel core (16) that is coated on at least one surface with an aluminum-containing layer (14). Preferably both surfaces of the stainless steel core (16) are coated with aluminum-containing layers (14A, 14B), except for a contact area (12) at which the stainless steel core (16) directly contacts the cathode (2). The aluminum-containing layer (14) prevents or minimizes the occurrence of an oxidation reaction that would otherwise lead to significant loss of the electrolyte.

Current collector for a fuel cell and method of making the same

A segment 1 of an aerodynamic body has as the internal actuating drive an actuator 7, which acts on an upper profile shell 2 with one working piston 9 and on a lower profile shell with a working piston 8 acting in the opposite direction to generate oppositely directed arches of the segment 1. The profile shells 2 and 3 are mounted displaceably in relation to one another in dovetail guides 4 and 5.

Aerodynamic body with internal actuating drives

An apparatus and method for removing NO.sub.x from the exhaust of internal combustion engines. The apparatus has a porous absorbent body saturated with a liquid alkaline electrolyte for absorption of NO.sub.x as nitrate and nitrite, in which body electrodes are distributed pairwise for electrochemical decomposition of the nitrate and nitrite to form nitrogen. The method uses the apparatus of the invention to decompose nitrates and nitrites into diatomic nitrogen.

Method and device for removal of NO.sub.x from engine exhaust

A manufacturing method for a separator plate for a molten carbonate fuel cell and separator plate made by the method. The separator plate comprises Ni-clad stainless steel. Aluminum is brought onto the wet seal area of the separator plate by high-velocity oxygen flame spraying. In addition, an intermetallic phase of the aluminum and the base metal is produced. The base metal can be both stainless steel or nickel.

Process for preparing a separator plate for a melt carbonate fuel cell

A device for firing projectiles (9) through an electrically heated plasma including a combustion chamber (12) which is provided on the breech side and the muzzle side with an electrode each, between which an arc generating plasma burns. A cartridge (18), which contains a material that decomposes into a low-molecular-weight gas under the effect of the arc, can be introduced into the combustion chamber (12). A current conductor, which connects a breech-side electrode (10) to the muzzle-side electrode (7) extending annularly around the muzzle-side end of the cartridge (18), is arranged in the longitudinal axis of the cartridge (18). The current conductor (20) consists of a plurality of strands (21) which extend radially to the outside from the longitudinal axis toward the annular electrode (7) at least at the muzzle-size end of the cartridge (18).
