A detergent composition for machine dishwashing comprising Z1) one or more ethoxylated glycerol esters of formula (I), prepared from ethylene oxide and one or more triglycerides of formula (II) in the presence of a calcium catalyst (C), characterized in that R1, R2 and R3 in formulae (I) and (II) are equal or different and are independently selected from saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C7-C24 alkyl chains; m, n and o in formula (I) are equal or different and are each independently an integer number from 1 to 200 with the proviso that the number-average of the sum of m+n+o is greater than 5; and the calcium catalyst (C) is a catalyst obtainable by a reaction involving (A) calcium hydroxide and (B) a carboxylic acid comprising 3 to 40 carbon atoms, wherein the molar ratio of calcium hydroxide (A) to carboxylic acid (B) in the preparation of the catalyst (C) is from 1:1 to 1:5.

Ethoxylated glycerol ester-containing detergent for machine dishwashing

Disclosed herein is a method for preparing ethoxylated glycerol esters (formula (I)) by reacting ethylene oxide with triglycerides (formula (II)) using a calcium catalyst. The catalyst is formed from calcium hydroxide (A), a C-Ccarboxylic acid (B) (formula (III)), and a strong acid (AC) (pKa≤3) derived from sulfur or phosphorus oxides. In formulae (I) and (II), R-Rare C-Calkyl chains, with ethoxylation units (m+n+o) averaging>5. In formula (III), Ris selected from saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C-Calkyl chains, and R, R, R, and Rare hydrogen. The calcium hydroxide: carboxylic acid ratio (A):(B) is 1:1-1:5, while calcium hydroxide: strong acid ratio (A):(AC) is 5:1-1:1.

Ethoxylated glycerol esters and method for the production thereof

This invention relates to a functional fluid, comprising (A) from 70 to 90, preferably 75-87 wt.-% of alkoxy glycol according to formula (I) CH—O—(CH—CH—O)—H wherein n is a number from 2 to 5, with the proviso that in at least 30 wt.-% of all compounds according to formula (I) n is 3, and that 15 to 65 wt.-% of all compounds according to formula (I) have n=4 or 5, and (B) less than 1.0 wt.-% of alkoxy glycol according to formula (II) R—O—(CH—CH—O)—H wherein Ris a Cto Calkyl residue, m is a number from 2 to 6, (C) from 8 to 25, preferably 12-23 wt.-% of at least one compound according to formula (III) H—O—(CH—CH—O)—H wherein k is a number of 2 or higher, with the proviso that in at least 80 wt.-% of all compounds according to formula (III) k is 2 or 3, (D) at least one additive, selected from the group consisting of corrosion inhibitors, alkalinity agents, aging protection agents, defoamers and lubricants, the lubricants being selected from the group consisting of propylene oxide containing alkylene oxide polymers that are optionally substituted with a Cto Calkyl group, triglycerides, castor oil, ricinoleic acid, and ethoxylates of castor oil or ricinoleic acid, and mixtures thereof, the fluid comprising at most 3 wt.-% of an ester between boric acid and a glycol or alkylpolyglycol compound.

The compounds of formula (I), of formula (II), or mixtures thereof are preferably suitable to act as a dispersing agent.
