An apparatus for stuffer box crimping a synthetic filament thread includes a thread inlet duct for aspiring and guiding synthetic filament threads to a stuffer box. The apparatus includes a flow duct, the thread inlet duct preceding the flow duct, the flow duct and the thread inlet duct having a common longitudinal axis. The apparatus is provided with a nozzle having an outlet opening merging into the flow duct, for supplying a fluid under pressure. The two or more sets of nozzles may be arranged consecutively along the longitudinal axis of the thread inlet duct and the flow duct in a direction of thread transport.

Method and apparatus for stuffer box crimping synthetic filament threads

A device for texturizing continuous filament threads including plates in a crimping part which have a prolongation at both ends thereof, with the prolongation being located centrically-symmetrically, however offset, relative to each other and have rounded end faces thus permitting reversing the plates upon wear of one end face thereof, thus increasing their service life.

Device for texturizing continuous filament threads

Stretching apparatus for synthetic filaments is provided with plates (5.1 and 5.2) located in a stretching bath S in spaced apart facing relation to one another to provide a space between which the filaments are drawn along a path. The plates are structured in accordance with the invention (as shown in FIGS. 7 to 16a) so that vibration of the yarn during the passage through the stretching bath is suppressed. At least one of the plates is penetrated by holes which open at the plate surface facing the yarn path.

Apparatus for stretching a synthetic yarn in a stretching bath

The stretching chamber arrangement comprises a stretching chamber with a first closeable feed conduit, a return conduit, a liquid container and a pump for the circulation of the liquid through the stretching chamber. For premoistening the yarns to prevent dry friction during the start-up of the arrangement, a second feed conduit is provided which by-passes the closing valve of the first feed conduit and which opens out into the yarn duct through small premoistening openings situated in the direction of the yarn travel in the area of the yarn entrance in front of the first yarn guiding element of the arrangement.

Yarn stretching chamber arrangements

Excess liquid is removed from a fast-moving thread, in that the latter is deflected, so that the liquid is hurled off, the hurled off liquid is removed from the thread, in that the thread is passed through a closed chamber, where a vacuum is produced in order to facilitate liquid evaporation and in that the thread is led through a narrow gap, so that the layer directly surrounding the thread and travelling therewith is peeled off. The combination of these drying effects constitutes one process stage. Advantageously, this process stage is performed several times in direct succession, so that in the case of a thread-protecting, small deflection angle a good thread drying can be achieved. The process is performed by an apparatus comprising several chambers (K.1-3) connected in series in the thread movement direction, the thread being deflected at the inlet and/or outlet with respect to each chamber by a deflection element (U.1-4) and passes through a narrow gap (S.1-). The chamber walls (20.1-4), which carry the thread passage, are inclined away from the thread in the gravity direction. The hurled off liquid, under the influence of gravity flows through corresponding passages, which interconnect the chambers and passes into the final chamber in the thread movement direction and is sucked off from the latter.

Process and apparatus for removing liquid from fast moving threads

Threads consisting of one or more filaments are drawn by being pulled through a braking fluid. Threads consisting of a plurality of filaments are formed into a ribbon for the drawing process. Inside the drawing bath, the thread is heated to a temperature corresponding to its second order transition temperature and is braked in such a way that its tension reaches the tension necessary for drawing the filament or the filaments. Through setting and/or controlling the length of the thread path inside the braking fluid, the viscosity of the fluid, additional mechanical braking means and/or the flow characteristics in the bath, the process is made adaptable for different thread materials and different thread speeds and can be optimized for thread quality. The device for carrying out the process has a quasi-closed main chamber through which a braking fluid is circulated. An antechamber with a variable fluid level may be arranged in front of the entrance to the main chamber. The chambers are formed by two parts that can be folded apart to facilitate threading up.

Process and device for hydrodynamic drawing of a polymer thread

The drawroll unit has a heatable galette in which the shaft of the gallette is mounted in bearings which, in turn, are mounted via vibration damping devices in a stationary housing. The vibration damping devices may be in the form of bodies of interlaced wire, O-rings or the like. The vibration damping devices serve to damp vibrations of the shaft in a critical speed range within the normal speed range of the rotor so that the galette can be operated at any speed within the normal speed range.

Drawroll unit

In order to be able to operate chambers for the continuous fluid treatment of textile yarns and which comprise several chamber parts with an improved sealing effect, even at elevated pressures and temperatures when aggressive fluids are used, one or both sealing faces of superimposed sealing face pairs undergo shape correction. The shape correction opposes the elastic deformation undergone by the sealing faces when loaded under operating conditions.

Chamber for the continuous treatment of filaments

A method for drawing a synthetic thread having a fibril bundle delivers the thread as a ribbon of substantially parallel fibrils through a drawing bath to effect a hydrodynamic braking of the filaments and simultaneous drawing of the filaments. A ceramic pin is used to form the fibrils into parallel relation and substantially in one plane. A second ceramic pin may also be used as a mechanical brake to add to the hydrodynamic braking action by the liquid in the drawing bath. The base and cover of the drawing device are provided with channels to define the flow path for the bath liquid as well as inlet and outlet channels for the liquid. Suction nozzles or air nozzles may be provided at the inlet and outlet ends of the flow paths to remove excess liquid from the fibrils.

Drawing bath

A yarn winding machine is equipped to compensate the sag of the spool mandrel (5) with a speedometer roll (7) which is disposed so that it can press radially against the surface of the yarn packages being wound and which is mounted so as to damp vibrations. The mounting for the speedometer roll (7) includes a peg (17) fastened on a yoke (11) which supports the speedometer roll (7). The peg (17) extends into a hole (21) in a carrier (19) for the yoke 11 and is connected to the wall of the hole (21) through O-rings (23) on the surface of the peg (17) so that it is flexible with respect to rotation.

Apparatus for compensating sag of the mandrel of a winding machine

After winding of a thread into a package, the thread is severed and, in order to prevent whirling of the thread end around the package, the end portion is interlaced with the package surface during the braking phase of the package. Interlacing is performed by blowing pressure jet against the thread end and the package surface within an interlacing chamber defined by a pivotally mounted shoe from which the pressure jet is emitted.

Method and apparatus for winding a thread and a package formed thereby

Winding of threads into cross-wound packages is effected by a moving traverse mechanism of a main traverse mechanism by which the thread is laid on to the package. The thread runs in a preliminary traverse mechanism between two elongated guide members which form therebetween a gap. The thread extends transverse to the guide members. The thread is additionally influenced by the preliminary traverse mechanism by means of air streams flowing in the longitudinal direction of the gap, these air streams being controlled with respect to timing. In this way, the thread is relatively uniformly tensioned, so that the operation of laying the thread into the package can be performed by the main traverse mechanism with greater precision. In the preliminary traverse mechanism, the thread practically does not come into contact with any fixed components, since no such components are required for its guidance and within the gap the thread is located in a kind of air cushion. Thus the thread is treated gently while there is no wear of moving parts in the preliminary traverse mechanism.

Method and apparatus for forming cross-wound packages

Logic signals corresponding to a detected thread break and/or thread loop in a package being wound on a bobbin are evaluated within a logic circuit to communicate the quality of a thread package. The logic signals can be processed in various ways. In one embodiment, discrimination is made of repeated logic signals produced by a single thread break. In another embodiment, the total number of logic signals are counted. Blocking arrangements can be provided to block logic signals caused by the same thread break or thread loop.

Method of monitoring the quality of a package of thread

The monitor is spaced a small distance from the curved path of the travelling thread to sense defects in the thread. In one embodiment, the monitoring means is spaced from the winding surface of a chuck to sense broken threads or an accurate build-up of the thread package. The monitoring means includes a detector head with a charge collector rod for sensing changes in electrical potential of the rod due to contact with a travelling thread part. The monitoring means can be moved away from the chuck to maintain a constant distance from the thread package being wound on a bobbin tube on the chuck.

Package quality monitor

The controlled magnetic bearing arrangement supports a rotatable shaft and contains an electronic control circuit. The shaft is floatingly supported in the bearing arrangement by magnets controlled by the electronic control circuit and the stiffness of the shaft is thereby adjustable. The shaft may constitute a package support shaft in a winding device of a spinning machine and has a free end for permitting the axial exchange of bobbin tubes and packages. This arrangement provides the advantages of attaining very high rotational speeds for the package support shaft and the possibility of varying the stiffness of such package support shaft and thus the critical rotational speeds. The regions of the critical rotational speeds can be passed through in a safe manner.
