Methods for providing a customized audio experience to a user of an audio output device are provided. A user interface is provided on a user device communicatively coupled to the audio output device, the user interface capable of accepting user input for managing the audio experience for the user. A set of activities is provided via the user interface, wherein each activity in the set invokes a set of behaviors configured for the activity for providing the customized audio experience to the user, wherein each behavior in the set customizes the audio experience for the user. A capability is provided via the user interface for the user to launch an activity from the set for invoking the set of behaviors configured for the activity to receive the customized audio experience.

Methods and systems for generating customized audio experiences

An audio system and method for generating improved augmented hearing effects in real-time. The system includes a wearable audio device arranged to obtain audio that includes a voice signal associated with a user and an environmental signal associated with other audio picked up by the wearable audio device that does not includes the user's voice. In some implementations, at least one processor of the wearable audio device is configured to isolate the voice signal from the environmental signal such that augmented hearing effects can be applied to the voice signal and/or the environmental signal, independently. In some implementations, augmented hearing effects are designated by a signal augmentation profile generated or stored in the wearable audio device such that the total time between receipt of the audio signal and the modifications and/or transformations to the respective audio signals does not exceed 100 ms.

Various implementations include approaches for controlling a wearable audio device. In some cases, a method includes: adjusting a primary audio output at the wearable audio device from a first audio location to a second, distinct audio location in response to detecting an ambient acoustic signal or an additional audio input signal unrelated to the primary audio output, where the first audio location includes a stereo audio output from a plurality of audio locations or spatialized audio output from a first spatially rendered audio location, and where the second audio location comprises spatialized audio output from a second, distinct spatially rendered audio location.
