In some embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy device includes a negative pressure source configured to provide negative pressure to a wound via a fluid flow path, a power source configured to power the negative pressure source, and a charging circuit configured to monitor a temperature of the power source and charge the power source. The charging circuit can be further configured to in response to a determination that the temperature of the power source is below a temperature threshold, provide a first charging power to the power source. The charging circuit can be further configured to in response to a determination that the temperature of the power source has reached or is above the temperature threshold, lower the first charging power to a second charging power.

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a housing, a negative pressure source, a canister, an antenna, and one or more controllers. The negative pressure source can provide negative pressure via a fluid flow path to a wound dressing. The canister can be positioned in the fluid flow path and collect fluid removed from the wound dressing. The antenna can be supported by the housing and wirelessly communicate with an electronic device. The antenna can be oriented in the housing to face downward toward the ground when the negative pressure source is providing negative pressure. The one or more controllers can activate and deactivate the negative pressure source and transmit first data to the electronic device using the antenna or receive second data from the electronic device using the antenna.

Construction and protection of components in negative pressure wound therapy systems

A negative pressure wound therapy system can include a reduced pressure wound therapy device and a wound therapy monitoring device configured to emit an indication when it detects that at least one parameter associated with the provision of negative pressure wound therapy is outside an operational range. The device can be configured to apply reduced pressure to a wound of a patient according to a default reduced pressure therapy prescription. The device can be configured to monitor usage data and transmit the usage data to the remove computer for determining compliance with a reduced therapy prescription. In some cases, non-compliance can be determined due to change of the prescription from the default prescription to a prescription more suitable for treating the wound. A non-compliance notification can be transmitted to the device. The device settings can be updated to the current prescription.

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy devices and methods for controlling and operating such devices are disclosed. A negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a housing, a negative pressure source, a pressure sensor, and an electronic control circuitry. The negative pressure source can couple via a fluid flow path to a wound dressing covering a wound and provide negative pressure to the wound. Systems and methods for component stress relief are disclosed. In some embodiments, a wound dressing includes a substantially stretchable wound contact layer including a wound facing side and a non-wound facing side. The wound facing side or the non-wound facing side of the wound contact layer can support a plurality of electronic components and a plurality of electronic connections that connect at least some of the plurality of the electronic components. The wound facing side or the non-wound facing side of the wound contact layer can include a region of substantially non-stretchable material that supports at least one electronic component from the plurality of electronic components. The at least one electronic component can be attached to the wound contact layer with adhesive material. Such arrangement can securely position the at least one electronic component and limit the mechanical strain on the at least one electronic component supported by the region.

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy apparatuses and methods for using such apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus includes a controller configured to determine a level of exudate in a canister (or a dressing) based at least in part on one or more characteristics of pressure signals generated by a negative pressure source and monitored by a pressure sensor. One such characteristic of the pressure signals can be amplitude, which may increase as a level of exudate in the canister (or dressing) increases. The canister (or dressing) can include a filter configured to become occluded in order to prevent overflow of the canister (or dressing). The controller can be additionally configured to detect and indicate a canister (or dressing) pre-full condition before the filter becomes occluded. More efficient and reliable operation of the negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can thereby be attained.
