A wet capacitor is provided, and the use of an insulation fluid composition in such a capacitor. The capacitor includes a package of a metal foil and a polymeric insulating film, or of a metallized polymeric film, wherein the insulation composition includes a synthetic or natural aromatic oil and a polymer. The insulation composition is configured to undergo a thermo-reversible oil-to-gel transition at a predefined gel-point temperature. Further, methods of producing such wet capacitors are provided, optionally including additional filling materials, and methods of sealing leaks in such capacitors.

A power capacitor including: a casing, a first bushing, a second bushing or an earthing stud having the same electric potential as the casing, wherein the first and second bushing extend through the casing, a dielectric liquid, and a plurality of wound capacitor elements, each wound capacitor element including: a first electrode having two first layers of electrically conducting material connected to the first bushing, the two first layers being arranged movable towards and from each other, a second electrode having two second layers of electrically conducting material connected to the second bushing or to the earthing stud, the two second layers being arranged movable towards and from each other, and a dielectric layer arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the two first layers, the two second layers and the dielectric layer are together wound in a plurality of turns to obtain a plurality of layers of the first electrode, of the second electrode and of the dielectric layer, wherein the wound capacitor elements are arranged in a stacked manner in the casing, adjacent wound capacitor elements being in direct contact with each other, and wherein the capacitor elements are submerged in the dielectric liquid.

A power capacitor unit for high-pressure applications is provided. The power capacitor unit includes a housing, a plurality of capacitor elements connected to each other and arranged inside the housing, a dielectric liquid (L), a solid electrical insulation system arranged to electrically insulate each capacitor element, a busbar, a plurality of fuse wires, each fuse wire having a first end connected to a respective capacitor element and a second end connected to the busbar (B), wherein the capacitor elements, the solid electrical insulation system, and the fuse wires are immersed in the dielectric liquid (L). Each fuse wire has a plurality of first sections that are in physical contact with the electrical insulation system, and wherein each fuse wire has a plurality of second sections without physical contact with the solid electrical insulation system.
