A coupling and related methods are disclosed herein that can provide for coupling a first object and a second object with minimal play. A coupling can include a first coupling component having a cylindrical surface with a screw and a pin extending therefrom and a second coupling component having a prismatic surface with a first and a second through-hole. The first coupling component and the second coupling component can be configured such that relative motion between the first coupling component and the second coupling component can be restricted in all six degrees of freedom when the screw is engaged with the first through-hole to secure the cylindrical surface of the first component against the prismatic surface of the second component. The pin can be configured to maintain stability of the coupling and further limit relative movement, such that positioning and/or orientation errors between the first and second components is minimized.

Instrument coupling interfaces and related methods

Navigated instrument guide systems and related methods can identify an absolute position of an instrument received within an instrument mount of a robotic arm. A navigation array unit of the guide system can include a main array and a mounted array. The main array can identify a position of the robotic arm and the instrument mount, while the mounted array can identify a depth position of a distal end of an instrument received within the instrument mount. The instrument can be passed through a lumen of the mounted array as the instrument is inserted into the instrument mount. The mounted array can be configured to translate relative to the instrument mount and the main array with distal translation of the instrument. In this manner, a position of the mounted array can identify a depth position of the instrument without a mechanical connection between the mounted array and the instrument.

Navigational arrays and related methods for use with a robotic arm

Couplings disclosed herein can include a first coupling component having a cylindrical surface with a screw and a pin extending therefrom and a second coupling component having a prismatic surface with a first and a second through-hole. The first coupling component and the second coupling component can be configured such that relative motion between the first coupling component and the second coupling component can be restricted in all six degrees of freedom when the screw is engaged with the first through-hole to secure the cylindrical surface of the first component against the prismatic surface of the second component.

Instrument couplings and related methods are disclosed herein, e.g., for coupling a surgical instrument to a navigation array or other component. The coupling can reduce or eliminate movement between the instrument and the navigation array, improving navigation precision. The coupling can be quick and easy to use, reducing or eliminating the need for extra steps or additional tools to attach or detach the instrument from the coupling. In some embodiments, the single step of inserting an instrument into the coupling can automatically lock the instrument within the coupling in a toggle-free manner.

Instrument couplings and related methods

Adjustable drill guides and related methods are disclosed herein. An exemplary drill guide can include an adjustment mechanism that allows for precise incremental adjustment of the drill guide's depth setting while securely maintaining the device at a fixed setting between adjustments. The adjustment mechanism can improve the safety and security of the drill guide, for example by limiting adjustment only to those situations where it is specifically intended by the user, thereby reducing or eliminating the risk of inadvertent depth adjustment. In some embodiments, a drill guide can include high visibility, easy-to-read depth indications while maintaining a slender profile and without shifting the user's eye gaze, for example by employing a multi-surface moving scale having a text height that is at least twice the adjustment increment. Handles, protection sleeves, navigation adapters, and various other accessories that can be used with or without a drill guide are also disclosed herein.

Adjustable drill guides and related methods

An interspinous process spacer for implantation in an interspinous space between a superior spinous process and an inferior spinous process includes a balloon-like body, a first deployable protrusion and a second deployable protrusion. The body has a distal end, a proximal end and a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal and distal ends. The spacer is arrangeable in an unexpanded configuration and an expanded configuration. The first deployable protrusion is mounted proximate the proximal end and the second deployable protrusion is mounted proximate the distal end. The first and second deployable protrusions are oriented generally parallel to the longitudinal axis in the unexpanded configuration and generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis in the expanded configuration.

Minimally invasive interspinous process spacer implants and methods

Provided are methods and systems for enlarging a spinal canal of a vertebra. Using the methods and systems disclosed the spinal canal of the vertebra is enlarged by cutting the posterior arch portion of the vertebra to create one or two implant receiving spaces in the posterior arch portion. The cutting of the posterior arch portion is completed through a minimally invasive approach. Once cut, the detached portion of the posterior arch portion is repositioned and an implant is positioned in the implant receiving space of the posterior arch portion to thereby enlarge the spinal canal such that the spinal cord is no longer compressed. The insertion of the implant is also completed through a minimally invasive approach.

Methods and systems for minimally invasive posterior arch expansion

An interspinous spacer assembly for insertion and/or implantation between spinous processes of adjacent superior and inferior vertebrae includes an interspinous spacer member sized and configured for insertion into the interspinous space located between adjacent spinous processes and an engagement mechanism for operatively coupling the spacer member to the adjacent spinous processes and for preventing migration of the assembly once implanted. The interspinous spacer assembly is adjustable to conform to the individual anatomy of a patient's spine.

An interspinous spacer assembly () for insertion and/or implantation between spinous processes of adjacent superior and inferior vertebrae includes an interspinous spacer member () sized and configured for insertion into the interspinous space located between adjacent spinous processes and an engagement mechanism () for operatively coupling the spacer member to the adjacent spinous processes and for preventing migration of the assembly once implanted. The interspinous spacer assembly is adjustable to conform to the individual anatomy of a patient's spine.

The present invention is directed to an interspinous spacer assembly for implantation and/or affixation between spinous processes of adjacent superior and inferior vertebrae and associated tools and methods for stabilizing the human spine. The interspinous spacer assembly includes a spacer body, a first lateral plate, a second lateral plate and a locking mechanism extending through a channel provided in the spacer body and coupling the first and second lateral plates to the spacer body.

Spinous process fixator

An allograft interspinous spacer for implantation into an interspinous space located between spinous process of adjacent vertebrae. The spacer preferably includes a body, a core and a plurality of deployable retainers. The body may be operatively associated with the plurality of deployable retainers. In use, after the body has been inserted into the interspinous space, the plurality of retainers is deployed so that they prevent migration of the spacer. The core is preferably sized and configured to be inserted and/or moved into operatively engagement with the body to deploy the plurality of retainers.

Bone-derived spacer assembly

The present invention relates to an interspinous spacer ('&#x2033;&#x2033;) for implantation between adjacent spinous process (SP) to treat spinal stenosis. The interspinous spacer preferably includes a W-shaped or S-shaped leaf spring body member () for insertion between adjacent spinous processes and one or more wire straps () extending from the body to attach the spacer to the adjacent spinous processes. The wire straps are preferably sized and configured to extend from one side of the leaf spring, along one side of a spinous process, over or under the spinous process to the other side wherein the wire strap can be coupled to the leaf spring. Alternatively, the spacer may include one or more hooks () for engaging one or both of the adjacent spinous processes. Preferably, the top bone contacting surface () has a more accentuated convex shape compared to the bottom surface () so that the spacer is better able to sit in the naturally formed concavity present in the bottom surface of a spinous process.
