A case configured to protect at least a portion of an electronic device. The case can comprise a first portion and a second portion that connect to one another via a hinge. The first portion can be configured to cover a first portion of a back side of the electronic device when fully installed on the electronic device. The second portion can be configured to cover a remaining portion of the back side of the electronic device when also fully installed on the electronic device. The second portion and the first portion can pivot with respect to one another via the hinge. Accordingly, by one approach, the second portion can be pivoted away from the electronic device while the first portion remains installed on the electronic device. In such a case, and by one approach, the second portion can serve as a stand for the electronic device.

Electronic device case

A device having an electrical plug, such as a charger device, includes a locking member coupled to a carriage that is movable into a housing. Prongs of the device are movable between a retracted position and an extended position along two different travel paths by actuating the prongs or by actuating the carriage.

A holder for a handheld electronic device, the holder including a container defining a space for receiving the handheld electronic device and an inner surface facing inwardly towards the space. At least a portion of the inner surface includes an infrared-neutral material or coating operative for interacting with infrared light emitted from the handheld electronic device and received by the infrared-neutral material. The interaction is such that, while the handheld electronic device is being received by the container, any reflected infrared signal effected by the interaction is inoperative for effecting activation of a functionality of the handheld electronic device when the reflected infrared signal is sensed by the handheld electronic device.

A mobile wireless communications system may include a mobile wireless communications device including a portable housing, a wireless transceiver carried by the portable housing, and a processor carried by the portable housing and coupled to the wireless transceiver. The mobile wireless communications device may further include a near-field communication (NFC) device coupled to the processor. The system may include an adjacent NFC device configured to communicate directly with the mobile wireless communications device. The adjacent NFC device may include a plurality of pairs of discontinuous NFC circuit segments, and a respective switch assembly configured to selectively coupled each pair of discontinuous NFC circuit segments to establish NFC communication with the NFC device.

A display for a handheld computing device is provided. The device comprises: a display panel; a circuit board carrying display electronics for the display panel; a motherboard; and a resilient layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface being adhered to the circuit board, and the second surface adhered to the motherboard, the resilient layer being positioned such that the resilient layer is disposed between the circuit board and the motherboard.

A mobile electronic device cover has a first cover portion with a first edge surface along a perimeter thereof. A second cover portion has a second edge surface along a perimeter thereof. A magnetic clasp has a first part in the first portion of the cover adjacent the first edge surface and a second part in the second portion of the cover adjacent the second edge surface. The magnetic clasp is adapted to magnetically hold the first edge surface meeting the second edge surface.

There is provided an electrical charger including a base unit and an adaptor unit. The base unit is configured for being coupled to an electronic device. The adaptor unit is configured for being coupled to a power supply. The base unit includes an electrical connector plug. The external surfaces of the base unit and the adaptor unit include co-operating external geometries that provide a visual indication whether the electrical connector plug is disposed, relative to the adaptor unit, in the electrically coupled state or in an electrically uncoupled state.

Electrical charger

There is provided an apparatus for supporting a handheld electronic device including a holster and a clip. The holster defines a pocket for receiving a handheld electronic device and supporting the received handheld electronic device. The clip is coupled to the holster and is configured for movement between an open position and a gripping position and is biased towards the gripping position. In the open position, spacing is provided between the clip and the holster so as to receive an article. In the gripping position, the clip is disposed such that, when an article is disposed between the clip and the holster, the article is gripped by the clip against at least one gripping surface portion of the holster under the force effecting biasing of the clip towards the gripping position. When the clip is disposed in the gripping position, and a handheld electronic device is received and supported by the pocket, coupling of the handheld electronic device to the article is thereby effected. When the coupling of the handheld electronic device to the article is effected, the minimum distance between the handheld electronic device each one of the at least one gripping portion of the holster is at least eighteen (18) millimetres.

A charger unit includes: a housing, prongs for engaging an electrical outlet, the prongs being coupled to one another by a cross-member and being movable relative to the housing between a retracted position in which the prongs are received in the housing and an extended position in which the prongs protrude from the housing, the prongs being biased toward the extended position, a locking arm comprising a first end, a cut out for receiving the cross-member when the prongs are in the retracted position and a second end for abutting the cross-member when the prongs are in the extended position, the first end of the locking arm being coupled to a carriage and the cutout being provided between the first end and the second end, the locking arm being movable by the carriage into and out of engagement with the cross-member and the locking arm being biased toward the passage.

There is provided an electrical charger including a base unit and an adaptor unit. The base unit is configured for being coupled to an electronic device, and includes an electrical connector plug which includes a plurality of electrical connector plug contacts. The adaptor unit is configured for being coupled to a power supply, and includes a plurality of adaptor unit contacts and a receiving aperture defining an opening for an electrical connector plug receiving receptacle configured for receiving the electrical connector plug.

A cover system for a communication device and a case for the communication device are provided. The system comprises: a first cover and a second cover. The first cover has a shape to fit in a recessed region of a case of a communication device, the recessed region bounding a display opening and a speaker opening in the case; a first region adapted to cover the display opening; a second region to enclose the speaker opening; and at least one hole in the second region to provide a conduit through the first cover to the speaker opening. The second cover covers the second region and is shaped to allow ambient air to pass around the second cover to the at least one hole.

The present technology provides a bridge-style push-button with anchoring, a device comprising same, and a method of assembly. The push-button comprises a first anchor portion for coupling to the device, a second anchor portion for coupling to the device, a resilient bridge portion suspended between the anchor portions, and an actuating portion mounted on the bridge portion. The first anchor portion is mounted along a differently oriented axis from the second anchor portion. The first and second anchor portions may be slideably mounted, rotatably mounted, or both. The device comprises anchor sites for mounting of the push-button. The method of assembly comprises coupling the first anchor portion to the device before the second anchor portion.
