A film structure including: (a) at least one functionalized film layer, wherein the at least one film layer comprises a polar-reactive group polyolefin layer used as an internal layer in the film structure; and (b) a lamination adhesive composition present on, and in contact with, a least a portion of a surface of the internal layer; wherein the green tack value of the adhesive composition is greater than 0.772 Newtons/centimeter; a laminate including the above film structure bonded to a substrate layer; a process for producing the film structure; a process for producing the laminate; and a laminated article made from the above laminate.

Lamination film and adhesive therefor

The present invention provides uniaxially oriented films and packages formed from such films. In one aspect, a uniaxially oriented film includes (a) a first layer including (i) a first composition including an ethylene-based polymer prepared in the presence of a single-site catalyst, wherein the first composition has a density of 0.935 g/cmto 0.965 g/cm, a melt index (12) of 0.5 to 6 g/10 minutes, and a MWD of 6.0 or less, and (ii) a Ziegler-Natta catalyzed ultra low density polyethylene having a density of 0.880 g/cmto 0.912 g/cm, a melt index (12) of 0.5 to 6 g/10 minutes, and a MWD of 6.0 or less, (b) a second layer including at least one polyolefin, and (c) at least one inner layer between the first layer and the second layer including a high density polyethylene. The film is oriented in the machine direction at a draw ratio of between 4:1 and 10:1, and can exhibit a machine direction 2% secant modulus of 85,000 psi or more when measured as per ASTM D882.

Multi-layered films oriented in the machine direction and articles comprising the same

The present invention relates to a film structure comprising an outer layer, a core and an inner layer (or sealant layer). The outer layer comprises a polyolefinic material having a Vicat softening temperature of 85&#xb0; C. or greater, and a total crystallinity in the range of 25 to 45%. The core comprises a linear low density polyethylene having a density of 0.925 g/cmor less, and a melt index of 4.0 g/10 min or less. The inner layer comprises linear low density polyethylene having a density of from 0.865 to 0.926 g/cmand a melt index of less than 4.0 g/10 minutes. The films of the present invention have less than 25% of polyethylenes having a density of 0.930 g/cmor greater. Further, the films of the present invention can be characterized by the substantial absence of polyamide, polyester, ethylene vinyl acetate, ionomers, polyvinyl chloride, and/or cyclic olefin polymers.

Polyolefin based films suitable for thermoforming

The present invention provides uniaxially oriented films and packages formed from such films. This invention relates to coupling of polyethylene resins, more specifically coupling of polyethylene resins for use in extruded profiles, especially extruded profiles for sheet extrusion and cut sheet thermoforming applications and geomembranes. The process involves conveying a HDPE resin through an extruder, wherein the extruder comprises a feed zone, a first melt zone downstream of the feed zone, a second melt zone downstream of the first melt zone, and a third melt zone downstream of the second melt zone. The resin is melted in the first zone, contacted with oxygen in the second melt zone, and contacted antioxidant in the third melt zone.

Process for making tailored polyetheylene resins for sheets

The present invention relates to the use of particular blends of LLDPE and LDPE together with specific fabrication conditions to make foamed sheets of thin gauge with MD tear properties similar to an equivalent gauge non-foamed sheet of the same composition. In particular, blends which combine a high MI LLDPE rich fraction with a low MI branched LDPE minor fraction provide the adequate balance of mechanical strength of the polymer base with its melt strength, extensibility and stress relaxation, allowing a thin foam film with MD tear strength which is comparable to non foamed counterparts of similar gauge and composition. The foamed films of the present invention are thin (generally from about 1 to 10 mils thick), and have an MD tear strength of at least about 160 grams for a 3 mil film as measured by ASTM D 1922. The foamed films of the present invention are preferably made at least in part from blends which comprise from 10 to 95 percent by weight of LLDPE having a relatively high (1.5 to 6) MI and from 5 to 90 percent of an LDPE resin having a relatively low MI (0.5 to 2.0).
