A polymer composition comprises a low-molecular-weight (LMW) ethylene polymer component and a high-molecular-weight (HMW) ethylene polymer component coupled with a polysulfonyl azide. Preferably, the LMW polyethylene component and the HMW polyethylene component co-crystallize in the composition such that it exhibits a single or substantially single peak in a lamella thickness distribution (LTD) curve. The ethylene polymer for the LMW and the HMW polyethylene components can be either homopolymer or ethylene copolymer. Preferably, both components are an ethylene copolymer of the same, or different, composition (that is, with the same or different comonomers). A method of making a pipe that includes selecting a polymer composition having a substantially single peak in the LTD curve is described. Compositions comprising a chromium-catalyzed ethylene polymer, coupled with a polysulfonyl azide are also described herein.

Rheology modified relatively high melt strength polyethylene compositions and methods of making pipes, films, sheets, and blow-molded articles

A polyolefin compound including: A) at least one thermoplastic olefin copolymer including the reaction product of olefin 1 and olefin 2, wherein: olefin 1 is a Cbased olefin and olefin 2 is a Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin or olefin 1 is a Cbased olefin and olefin 2 is a Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin; B) at least one functional polymer, the functional polymer content in the polyolefin compound being between 1 and 75 weight percent of the combined components A and B; wherein the thermoplastic olefin copolymer and the functional polymer form a co-continuous phase; wherein: a) an 12 melt index of the polyolefin compound is from about 1 to about 15 as measured using ASTM D 1238; b) a Shore A hardness of the polyolefin compound is from about 55 to about 100 as measured using ASTM D2240; c) a flexural modulus of the polyolefin compound is from about 0.8 to about 30 kpsi as measured using ASTM D790.

Two/three component compatible polyolefin compounds

Rheology modification of an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer is achieved by blending the interpolymer with at least one branched polyolefin. The polyolefins can be homopolymers or interpolymers and have a branching index of less than 1. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer is a block copolymer having at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The soft block comprises a higher amount of comonomers than the hard block. The block interpolymer has a number of unique characteristics disclosed here. Rheology-modified ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer, i.e., the resulting polymer blends, can be extruded or molded into many useful articles, such as films, sheets, profiles, gaskets, foams, etc.

Rheology modification of interpolymers of ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefins and articles made therefrom

A polymer composition comprises at least an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and at least one other polymer. The other polymer can be selected from a second ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer, an elastomer, a polyolefin, a polar polymer, and an ethylene/carboxylic acid interpolymer or ionomer thereof. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer is a block copolymer having at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The soft block comprises a higher amount of comonomers than the hard block. The block interpolymer has a number of unique characteristics disclosed here. Also provided are gaskets, bottle cap liners, and closures that comprise or obtained from a compositon comprising at least one ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and at least one polyolefin. The gaskets are capable of compression sealing various containers, without contaminating the contents. Liquid containers particularly benefit from the use of the novel gasket materials disclosed herein.

Cap liners, closures and gaskets from multi-block polymers

A polymer composition comprises at least an ethylene/&#x3b1;-oleiln interpolymer and at least one other polymer. The other polymer can be selected from a second ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer, an elastomer, a polyolefin, a polar polymer, and an ethylene/carboxylic acid interpolymer or ionomer thereof. Cap liners, closures, and gaskets from multi-block polymers

Foamable compositions and soft foams comprise at least an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer. The soft foam has a density from about 10 to 150 kg/m. The foamable compositions further comprise a blowing agent. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymers are a multi-block copolymer comprising at least one soft block and at least one hard block. Methods of making the foamable compositions and soft foams; and foam articles made from the soft foams are also described.

Soft foams made from interpolymers of ethylene/alpha-olefins

A foamable polymer composition is described which comprises: a1) a substantially random interpolymer produced from: i) one or more &agr;-olefin monomers; and ii) one or more vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomers and/or one or more sterically hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphiatic vinyl or vinylidene monomers; and optionally iii) other polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s); or a2) an interpolymer comprising polymerized units of ethylene and vinyl acetate; or a3) a combination of the polymers a1) and a2); and b) a polydiorganosiloxane having a viscosity of at least one million centistoke at 25&deg; C.; and c) a foaming agent. The polydiorganosiloxane is useful for improving the abrasion resistance of foams comprising the substantially random interpolymer a1) and/or the ethylene/vinyl acetate interpolymer a2).
