Multiports having connection ports with associated securing features and methods for making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment comprises a multiport for providing an optical connection comprising a shell, a connection port insert, and at least one securing feature. The shell comprises a first end having a first opening leading to a cavity. The connection port insert comprises a body having a front face and at least one connection port comprising an optical connector opening extending from the front face into the connection port insert with a connection port passageway extending through part of the connection port insert to a rear portion, where the connection port insert is sized so that at least a portion of the connection port insert fits into the first opening and the cavity of the shell. The at least one securing feature is associated with the at least one connection port.

Multiports having connection ports with associated securing features and methods of making the same

Multiports having connection ports formed in the shell and associated securing features are disclosed. One aspect of the disclosure is directed to a multiport for providing an optical connection comprising a shell comprising a first portion, at least one connection port comprising an optical connector opening, and a connection port passageway formed in the first portion of the shell, where the at least one securing feature is associated with the at least one connection port.

Fiber optic connectors and connectorized fiber optic cables include connector housings having locking portions defined on the connector housing that allow the connector housing to be selectively coupled to a corresponding push-button securing member of a multiport assembly. Methods for selectively connecting a fiber optic connector to, and disconnecting the fiber optic connector from the multiport assemblies allow for connector housings to be forcibly and nondestructively removed from the multiport assembly.

One embodiment is directed to a multiport for providing an optical connection comprising a shell and a connection port insert. The connection port insert comprises a body having a front face and at least one connection port comprising an optical connector opening extending from the front face into the connection port insert with a connection port passageway extending through part of the connection port insert to a rear portion, where the connection port insert is sized so that at least a portion of the connection port insert fits into the first opening and the cavity of the shell.

A fiber optic connector assembly includes a connector housing defining locking portion defined, an adapter assembly selectively coupled to the connector housing, the adapter assembly including a conversion housing extending around the connector housing and defining a conversion retention member that is positionable between an engaged position, in which the conversion retention member restricts movement of the connector housing with respect to the adapter assembly in an axial direction, and a disengaged position, in which the connector housing is movable with respect to the adapter assembly in the axial direction, and a release housing positioned between the conversion housing and the connector housing, the release housing defining a release front end positionable at least partially within the conversion housing, and a release face selectively engageable with the conversion retention member and configured to move the conversion retention member from the engaged position to the disengaged position.

Connector assemblies for insertion into a port structure of a telecommunication enclosure to provide an environmentally sealed connection are disclosed herein. An exemplary connector assembly includes a forward connector housing, an intermediate body positioned over a portion of the forward connector housing, an optical connection portion coupled to the forward connector housing, and an adapter, positionable over the intermediate body. The intermediate body comprises a forward portion and a rearward portion, with the forward portion including an external key and a plurality of trigger elements. Each trigger element has a foot portion and a locking portion, and the rearward portion includes an orientation key in substantial alignment with the external key.

Connector assemblies for telecommunication enclosures

Devices such as multiports comprising connection ports with associated sliding actuators that engage securing members and methods for making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a shell, at least one connection port, and at least one sliding actuator that engages with a complimentary securing member. The at least one connection port is disposed on the multiport with the at least one connection port comprising an optical connector opening extending from an outer surface of the multiport to a cavity of the multiport and defining a connection port passageway. The at least one securing member is associated with the connection port passageway and translating the sliding actuator allows the release of an optical connector disposed in the connection port.

A fiber optic connector assembly includes a connector housing defining a rotationally-discrete locking portion defined on an outer surface, an adapter assembly selectively coupled to the connector housing, the adapter assembly including an adapter housing defining an adapter front end and an adapter retention member that is positionable between an engaged position, in which the adapter retention member restricts movement of the connector housing with respect to the adapter assembly in an axial direction, and a disengaged position, in which the connector housing is movable with respect to the adapter assembly in the axial direction, and a locking housing positioned between the adapter housing and the connector housing, the locking housing defining a locking front end positionable at least partially within the adapter housing, and a locking retention feature that is engaged with the adapter retention member when the adapter retention member is in the engaged position.

A fiber optic connector assembly includes a connector housing defining a locking portion defined on an outer surface of the connector housing, an adapter assembly selectively coupled to the connector housing, the adapter assembly including a conversion housing extending around the connector housing and defining a conversion front end, a retention housing including a connector retention feature engaged with the locking portion of the connector housing and the retention housing defining one or more outwardly-extending retention features, and a release member, engageable with the retention housing, where the release member is positionable between an engaged position, in which axial movement between the retention housing and the conversion housing is restricted, and a disengaged position, in which the retention housing is removable from the conversion housing.

The at least one securing feature is associated with the at least one connection port, where the at least one securing feature cooperates with the at least one flexure.
