The present disclosure presents improved treadmill control systems and methods. One such method comprises initiating a recording a video sequence of a walking exercise by a subject on a treadmill device; extracting intra-gait phases of the subject from the recorded video sequence using a video temporal alignment with a neural network; generating a series of treadmill belt control settings for the treadmill device corresponding to each phase of the gait pattern of the subject; and signaling the series of treadmill belt control settings to a motor controller of the treadmill device. Other methods and systems are also provided.

Simulating a split-belt with a single-belt treadmill

Disclosed and described herein are smart, high-speed UV communication protocols, inspired by the biological principles. The disclosed and described protocols use a 'pipe' routing topology to deliver large amount of data among the UVs equipped with multi-beam antennas. The disclosed and described embodiments include bio-inspired pipe routing and adaptive batch coding (ABC) based congestion control. In regard to bio-inspired pipe routing, a human's brain uses highly cooperative neuro cells to memorize everything. Inspired by neuro networks, a pipe architecture with high-throughput node-to-node data delivery is disclosed and described herein. The pipe routing uses multi-beam antennas to achieve parallel data transmission. In regard to ABC based congestion control, a new network coding called ABC is disclosed, which can minimize traffic congestion occurrences in the above pipe routing. The disclosed and described transport layer protocol includes both end-to-end reliability and congestion control.

Intelligent high-speed unmanned vehicle communications via bio-inspired multi-beam pipe transmission

A MAC design for Ku-band mobile wireless mesh network with multi-beam smart antennas is disclosed. This MAC includes an overlay control that separates the collision domain. It also has lower layer CSMA-like scheme. The disclosed design includes an enhanced PCF and an enhanced DCF for two purposes: (1) exploiting multi-beam concurrent communication capability (2) supporting QoS and mission-based communications. An efficient time synchronization scheme is also disclosed to ensure all beams can concurrently send data to the star node. Finally, ARMA or HMM based prediction schemes are disclosed to predict future traffic profile in each beam. This helps the star node to better prepare the queue content and schedule information.

Intelligent multi-bean medium access control in ku-band for mission-oriented mobile mesh networks

Systems and methods for rehabilitation of limb motion are described herein. An example system can include a thermal imaging device for imaging a subject or a plurality of sensors for sensing force or pressure exerted by a portion of the subject's body. The system can also include a processor and a memory operably coupled to the processor. The processor can be configured to receive force or pressure data measured by the sensors or image data captured by the thermal imaging device, and calculate a quantitative measure of the subject's limb motion based on the force or pressure data or the image data.

Disclosed herein are systems and methods directed to routing in the wireless mesh network (WMN) with multi-beam directional antennas (MBDAs). Systems and methods for managing spectrum handoff with multimedia transmissions over cognitive radio networks are disclosed. The methods may include, for example, determining when a primary user is inactive on the one or more frequencies. The methods may also include assigning a secondary user to the one or more frequencies while the primary user is inactive and detecting return by the primary user to the one or more frequencies. The secondary user may, in one embodiment, be interrupted and one or more second frequencies that are inactive may be identified. Further, the secondary user may transition to the one or more second frequencies to resume transmission or reception.

A cross-layer encoder for providing UEP encoding of video data configured to provide UEP encoding of video data at an application layer of a transmission channel by receiving video packets having first and second priority levels, applying first and second coding schemes to video packets having first and second priority levels, respectively, and transmitting video frames having first and second priority levels. The cross-layer encoder can be configured to provide UEP encoding of video data at a physical layer of the transmission channel by receiving encoded video frames having first and second priority levels, applying third and fourth coding schemes to video frames having first and second priority levels, respectively, and transmitting cross-layer encoded video frames having first and second priority levels. Multi-layer integrated unequal error protection with optimal parameter determination for video quality granularity-oriented transmissions

Systems and methods for cognitive radio spectrum sensing of a signal are disclosed herein. On exemplary method comprises applying a pre-defined cyclostationary feature to detect the presence of the signal; detecting the signal; detecting a spectrum associated with the signal; sampling randomly the detected signal from its cyclic frequency domain; and applying a compressive sensing algorithm to classify the signal based on the cyclostationary feature. The signal can be sparse in time, space, frequency, or code domains. Thereby, the systems and methods described in the present disclosure involve exploiting compressive sensing in a specific sparse domain (i.e., cyclic domain) and also utilize a cyclostationary feature based compressive spectrum sensing scheme to perform spectrum analysis.
