A cellular device has a stacked protocol, with an upper layer and a lower layer. The lower layer includes a multiple carrier detection unit, a memory and a digital processing system. The multiple carrier detection unit receives a plurality of wireless carrier signals and provides a respective plurality of output digital streams. The memory is used to store a target cell search list, and the digital processing system processes the digital streams in parallel based upon parameters within the target cell search list. The parameters may include a frequency indicator and a radio access technology (RAT) indicator. The lower layer controls the multiple carrier detection unit to detect the wireless carrier signals based upon the frequencies and RATs in the target cell search list.

System and method for time saving cell search for mobile devices in single and multiple radio technology communication systems

MPEG 1 Audio data compression is based on subband coding. A quantization is performed using a psychoacoustic model which is adapted to the masking behavior of the human hearing. Each subband signal is quantized in such a way that the quantization noise introduced by the coding will not exceed the masking curve for that subband. In ISO/IEC 11172-3 two independent psychoacoustic models are defined. The output from these psychoacoustic models is a set of Signal-to-Masking Ratios, SMR, for every subband n. In order to calculate the SMRfor the psychoacoustic model 2 according to the invention a Fast Fourier Transformation is performed with a length of L=1152 samples by calculating k subtransformations over 2samples with k*2=L and fitting together the results of the k subtransformations.

Method and encoder for bit-rate saving encoding of audio signals

A method and apparatus for the decoding of digital audio data encoded in accordance with layer 1 or 2 of the MPEG format. The inverse quantization of the quantizised data samples and the resealing of the inverse quantizised data samples takes place contemporaneously with windowing of the data samples transformed into the time domain and not contemporaneously with transformation of data samples from the frequency domain into the time domain using a matrix operation. The apparatus has fixed-wire frame unpacking and filter bank units. The frame unpacking unit is used for frame synchronization of a data stream, header decoding, reading of page information, inverse quantization of quantizised subband data samples and resealing of the inverse quantizised data samples. The filter bank unit is used for transformation of rescaled data samples from the frequency domain into the time domain using a matrix operation and for windowing of the data transformed into the time domain.
