An air breathing battery apparatus is connected to the hollow tubing of a backpack frame to provide an uninterrupted, water-resistant, light-weight power supply during extended remote operations in the field. Air breathing power sources are connected to the hollow tubes of the backpack assembly to provide a constant uninterrupted air supply in a relatively small package that fits easily into the backpack frame with only negligible added weight. The positioning of the air breathing power source in a backpack composed of hollow tubing also protects the battery from inclement weather or when the user is in water, for example, while fording a river or stream, to permit the uninterrupted use of the electronics powered by the battery.

A programmable parking meter and integrated paging transmitter is provided to warn the parking patron with a pre-violation notice that the parking time is about to expire. The programmable parking meter and integrated paging transmitter includes a rechargeable battery, a flat display that provides programming options and status of parking information to the parking patron, coin slots for use as a conventional coin operated parking meter, an automated teller machine (ATM) style keyboard to activate and program the paging apparatus, and a paging transmitter to interface with existing digital relays and infrastructure for personal communications devices. The invention also includes a method for notifying a remote parking patron that a programmable parking meter and integrated paging transmitter is scheduled to expire.

A synchronized ammunition container apparatus and system is provided with a weapon, rotating automatic arm, ammunition container, and rotatable turret base that allows an anti-aircraft weapon, to traverse, depress and elevate in order to engage a rapid, head-on, fly-over target. The synchronized ammunition container apparatus synchronizes the movement and position of the rotating automatic single arm, ammunition container and rotatable turret base to insure that the ammunition belt will not twist, tangle or break when the weapon follows a rapid, head-on, fly-over target. The synchronized ammunition container system and apparatus gives the user increased flexibility for multiple deployment locations and engaging multiple targets from different directions. Other embodiments include a synchronized anti-aircraft ammunition container and combining the apparatus and anti-aircraft weapon into an integrated anti-aircraft defense system with the synchronized ammunition container.

A firearm includes a barrel that has a central axis, a receiver fixedly supporting the barrel, and a gunstock that is connected to the receiver and that has a longitudinal axis. The gunstock and the receiver are each configured to provide for angular movement of the gunstock relative to the receiver and, in turn, the barrel whereby the central axis of the barrel varies in a generally radial direction extending from the longitudinal axis of the gunstock. In this way, the firearm may be discharged by a warfighter, standing adjacent to a corner, around the corner.

An individual flotation device includes a shell that has a cavity for receiving air and a housing that is connected to the shell. The housing has a metal air battery compartment that is dimensioned and configured to receive a metal air battery and also has an aperture. The housing may be located on the shell such that the aperture will generally remain above water during use of the flotation device. A membrane that may comprise hydrophobic properties may be located within the aperture of the housing.

A close quarter combat butt stock and blade apparatus for an assault weapon is provided with a slideable cover for a close quarters combat assembly having a rear bayonet. The close quarters combat assembly is connected to the concealed rear bayonet, has an interior opening that defines a close combat handle and a hand shield and is positioned behind the first pistol grip and first trigger. A second trigger is also built into the interior opening. In a closed position, the slideable cover covers the close quarters combat assembly and the rear bayonet remains concealed within the butt stock. When the slideable cover is in the open position, the rear bayonet is simultaneously extended rearward permitting the military and law enforcement user to thrust the rear bayonet at an opponent attacking from the rear or side. Maintaining the bayonet and close quarters combat position with the firing hand next to the second trigger permits the user to fire the weapon much more quickly than before, which will optimize the handling of the assault weapon during bayonet and close quarters fighting, protect the firing hand during bayonet and close quarters fighting and provide the user the means to fire the weapon during bayonet and close quarters fighting. Other embodiments include an assault weapon, an assault rifle, an assault weapon equipped with a close quarters combat assembly and a method for rapidly sliding a slideable cover of an assault weapon and extending a rear bayonet behind a user.

A bayonet assembly, for a firearm that has a knuckleguard, includes a rail connected to the firearm where the rail comprises a first position detent and a second position detent. The bayonet assembly may also include a bayonet that, in turn, includes a blade and a slide. The slide may be dimensioned and configured to engage the rail and the slide may include a slide catch that is dimensioned and configured to be engageable with the first position detent and the second position detent. In operation, the bayonet may be slid by a hand that is located within the knuckleguard from a remote position, where the slide catch engages the first position detent, to an extended position, where the slide catch engages the second position detent.

In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a lantern flashlight power source adaptor, which may be used with a battery that has an electrical socket, includes a member and an electrical plug that is supported by the member. The electrical plug may be dimensioned and configured to be connectable with an electrical socket of a battery and the adaptor may also include at least one terminal connector that is connected in circuit with the electrical plug and that is located on the member.

A close combat butt stock apparatus for an assault weapon is provided with a slideable cover for a close combat butt stock assembly that is positioned behind a first pistol grip and a first trigger of the assault weapon. The close butt stock assembly has an interior opening that defines a close combat handle and a hand shield. A second trigger is also built into the interior opening. With the close combat butt stock apparatus, the military and law enforcement user can now safely and efficiently hold the assault weapon in the bayonet and close quarter combat position with the firing hand holding the close quarter combat handle so that the firing hand is much closer to a second trigger. Maintaining the bayonet and close quarter combat position with the firing hand next to the second trigger permits the user to fire the weapon much more quickly than before, which will optimize the handling of the assault weapon during bayonet and close quarter fighting, protect the firing hand during bayonet and close quarter fighting, provide the user the means to fire the weapon during bayonet and close quarter fighting and extend the striking range of the rifle butt stock during close quarter fighting. Other embodiments include an assault weapon, an assault rifle, an assault weapon equipped with a close combat butt stock assembly and a method for rapidly engaging a second trigger of a close combat butt stock assembly of an assault weapon.

The battery has two cells of equal voltage (expressed as Volts DC or VDC) and equal electrochemical capacity (expressed as Ampere-Hours or AH). Each cell has one or more hinged and electrically connected modules. Both cells are hinged to each other but are not electrically connected. The modules of the battery can be folded into four basic prismatic shapes and an infinite number of non-prismatic shapes. Each shape is basically two batteries because the equal voltage cells can be connected to the load equipment in electrical series or electrical parallel. An adapter can be connected to the battery to provide additional battery footprints.

A self-powered cold temperature capable flat panel display is provided to use a heat byproduct from a group of PEM fuel cells to warm the flat panel display of a laptop computer. The self-powered cold temperature capable flat panel display system comprises a flat panel display, a PEM fuel cell assembly, a means for separating the display from the PEM fuel cell assembly and a hydrogen fuel source. A slot is located below the panel and the PEM fuel cell assembly is sufficiently thin to provide adequate space in the slot for the insertion of both the separation means and the PEM fuel cell assembly. Other embodiments include a cold temperature display system and an all-climate panel display and a method for warming a panel display.

An air breathing power source is mounted in a water impervious housing with a hydrophobic membrane across an opening in its top surface. The housing is secured by flexible straps over a users shoulders so that it is normally carried across the users back, but floats up with the air breathing top surface above the water when the user enters water up to and above shoulder level.
