A system and method for facilitating safe use of a medical device is provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving an indication that a user has entered a set of parameters into a medical device to provide a medical treatment to a patient, receiving a history of previous medical treatment provided to the patient using the medical device, generating one or more alternative parameters for providing the medical treatment to the patient based on the set of parameters and the received history of previous medical treatment, causing, based on the generating of the one or more alternative parameters, a locking of the medical device to restrict operation of the medical device until an override of the lock is received, providing a notification for display to the user regarding the alternative parameters.

Predictive medication safety

An infusion management and monitoring system comprises an infusion pump and instructions executable by a processor to cause a remote device separate from and in communication with the infusion pump to receive data for a medication to be administered to a patient via the infusion pump within a healthcare environment; receive from the infusion pump data for administration of the medication to the patient; determine a status of the administration of the medication based on at least one of the data for the medication or the data for the administration of the medication; and transmit the status to a mobile communication device within the healthcare environment.

Multiple infusion channel data graphical user interface

Data is received that characterizes infusions administered to a patient among each of a plurality of infusion channels. Thereafter, a plurality of infusion events and respective event times are identified based on the received data. A temporal view of the infusion events can then be displayed in a graphical user interface and/or the temporal view of the infusion events can form part of a report. The temporal view segregates each channel into a separate swim lane with each swim lane visualizing infusion events for the corresponding channel at the respective event times. A context-aware healthcare notification system determines, in response to a user device has moved within a proximity of an infusion device and within a proximity of a patient identification device associated with a patient, that the infusion pump is currently experiencing an error condition regarding an administration of medication by the infusion pump to the patient. A corrective action is determined for the error condition and a notification is provided to the user device indicating that the user device is within the proximity of the infusion device and that the infusion device is experiencing the error condition, and information regarding the corrective action. The infusion device may then be caused to adjust the administration of medication by the infusion pump to the patient.

A context-aware healthcare notification system may include a processor and a memory. The memory may include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to determine when a user device is within a proximity of a healthcare device or a patient, receive information related to the healthcare device or patient from multiple healthcare systems, when the user device is determined to be within the proximity of the healthcare device or the patient, and transmit, to the user device over the communication network, at least a portion of the information. In one or more embodiments, the instructions, when executed by the processor, may further cause the processor to receive information from the healthcare device, when the user device is determined to be within the proximity of the healthcare device or the patient, and transmit, to the user device over the communication network, at least a portion of the information.

Methods for facilitating safe use of a medical item are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a first identifier for a medical entity located in an institution. The medical entity includes at least one of a patient, medical device, medical location, or medical item. The method also includes receiving a second identifier for a first course of action associated with the medical entity. The method further includes generating, based on a history of the medical entity and the first course of action associated with the medical entity, a second course of action for the medical entity, and providing a notification to a device indicating the second course of action. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Methods for providing predictive notifications to a monitoring device are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving retrospective patient data collected from a plurality of medical devices, and determining, based on a comparison of the retrospective patient data with current patient data for a patient from a medical device, a likelihood of a potential adverse medical event occurring for the patient. The method also includes providing a notification to a monitoring device indicative of the potential adverse medical event for the patient. Systems, graphical user interfaces, and machine-readable media are also provided.
