An electrostatic method is disclosed for providing multicolor imaging from a single toner bath. The toner bath is a blend of individual toners, each of which contains a color precursor different from the others. Also disclosed is a method for the double encapsulation of toner particles to produce toner particles characterized by multiple encapsulation.

An electrostatic multicolor imaging system employs a transfer surface which is charged imagewise such that blended microcapsular chromogenic photohardenable toner particles are electrostatically deposited only in those charged regions of a latent image formed on the surface where colors are to be provided for the image.

A positive or negative latent image can be developed with negatively or positively charged toner particles, respectively, that are microcapsular. The shell material of the toner particles is a melamine-formaldehyde resin or a starch-based material. The core is a liquid solution comprising at least a liquid, ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a leuco dye and a photoinitiator.

A flexible non-reticulated foam pad having on a surface thereof a polyurethane coating consisting essentially of a cured isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, the penetration of the prepolymer coating being no more than about 50 percent of the thickness of the flexible urethane foam. The coated surface provides an abrasive area which enhances its use in cleaning applications as well as increasing the resistance to tear propagation of the wet foam. In addition, the major portion of the foam pad is available for the release of cleaning and sanitizing agents or the absorption of liquids such as water. The novel foam pads are suitable for household, institutional and industrial use.
