A method of treating hypercholesterolemia in mammals, by administering an effective amount of a microbial fermentation product, and regulating genes involved in lipoprotein metabolism. This invention relates to ERRP (EGF-Receptor Related Protein) specific antibodies that could be used 1) to study the functional properties of ERRP and; 2) as a diagnostic and prognostic tool for malignancies.
