A bearing unit having an axis of rotation (X) for a wheel hub assembly for motor vehicles includes stationary radially outer ring, a rotatable wheel hub or first radially inner ring, a rotatable second radially inner ring having an axially external first axial contact edge, an axially internal second axial contact edge having a radially external first contact surface configured to abut a surface of the first radially inner ring, a radially internal second contact surface, and a relief groove interposed radially between the first contact surface and the second contact surface, two rows of rolling bodies interposed between the radially outer ring and the second radially inner ring, and a joint including a bell, the second contact surface contacting a surface of the bell and axial locks the radially inner ring, and the relief groove reducing contact between the second contact edge and the surface of the bell.

Optimized wheel hub assembly

A wheel hub assembly for mounting on an upright of a vehicle has a flanged outer ring provided with a tubular mounting portion inserted over a first axial length (L) inside a seat of the upright; and a plastic cover having a mounting portion which is also engaged inside the tubular portion, wherein the mounting portion extends outside the tubular portion over a second axial length (L) which, together with the first axial length (L), covers less than a mounting length (L) inside the seat.

A sealing device for bearing units is disclosed herein. The sealing device may comprise a static component and a dynamic component. The static component is provided with a shaped metal support, with a plurality of non-contacting sealing lips, and with two contacting lips. The dynamic component defines a labyrinth seal with a second sealing lip of said non-contacting sealing lips, a third lip, preferably non-contacting, being positioned along the labyrinth seal and having a full angular extension, so as to form a full seal against any ingress of contaminants into the bearing unit.

A coupling system for a sealing assembly with a rotating annular member. In particular, a bearing ring provided with a flange. The sealing assembly provides at least one first annular shield having a sleeve portion integrally coupled with the rotating annular member and a flange portion that radially and overhangingly protrudes from the sleeve portion and is arranged close to the flange. The sleeve portion is defined by a solid tubular body of rotation delimited by a mounting surface facing towards the rotating annular member and having cylindrical geometry, In combination, the sleeve portion couples with an assembly seat of the rotating annular member, formed by an annular shallow recess delimited by a cylindrical bottom surface and by an axial shoulder arranged on the side opposite to the flange; the first annular shield being placed, at the same time, in axial contact with the flange portion and the axial shoulder.

A flanged wheel hub for wheel hub bearings, the wheel hub having a flange provided with a plurality of threaded through holes and, for each threaded through hole, a respective radial arm, which has a respective axial thickness (SAB) to act as a strengthening element for the flange, at least at the position of the threaded through holes, the wheel hub being produced by forging with the flange and the arms made in one piece, and also having, for each threaded through hole, an annular boss, which is also forged in one piece with the wheel hub and is arranged around, and penetrated by, the corresponding threaded through hole for the purpose of increasing the mechanical strength characteristics of the wheel hub.

A sealing device for a hub bearing assembly, equipped with a rolling bearing unit, a circular metal shield, a radially extending end wall and a double cylindrical lateral wall fixed to and practically orthogonal to the end wall, formed by a first cylindrical lateral wall and a second cylindrical lateral wall. The metal shield is angularly coupled to a radially outer ring of the bearing. The second cylindrical lateral wall is connected in a fixed manner to a radially outer edge adapted to cover an axially inner surface of the terminal edge that is potentially subject to oxidation phenomena with the consequent formation of a layer of rust.

Sealing device for a hub bearing assembly

A sealing device for a wheel hub assembly having an outer ring and an inner ring. The sealing device includes a first (stationary) annular shield and a second (rotating) annular shield, each having a journalling portion and a flange portion radially extending in cantilever fashion from the journalling portion and towards the other shield; and an annular sealing element carried by the first shield and provided with a plurality of annular sealing lips. The first shield is coupled radially on the outside of the outer ring. The second shield flange portion includes a radially outer annular stretch opposite the journalling portion, extending axially towards the first shield and is incurved radially from the exterior towards the interior, on the side opposite the first shield, forming a U-arranged parallel to a common symmetry axis of the first and second shields, having a concavity thereof facing the side opposite the first shield.

A hub-bearing unit for rotatably is provided with a stationary radially outer ring, a radially inner ring, an annular gasket, and a second metal insert. The radially inner ring includes a flange for mounting a wheel and a sealing device having a first metal insert, annular shaped, steadily fixed at an end portion of the outer ring facing the flange. The annular gasket includes a plurality of elastomeric sealing lips and steadily fixed to the metal insert. The second metal insert is steadily fixed on an axial cylindrical surface of the inner ring. The gasket presents a first axial contacting lip. The first axial contacting lip slidingly contacts a substantially frustoconical portion of the metal insert.
