A device is disclosed. The device contains a first light source configured to excite fluorescence emission of a first contaminant on a surface, and a first optical sensor configured to capture one or more images of the fluorescence emission of the first contaminant.

Inspection and sanitation device and method

The contamination sanitation inspection system (CSIS) allows a user to capture an image of a large scene (such as a food processing line, a food service facility, a food products storage area, or a plant production area/facility) and identify contamination within the scene and preferably represent the contamination on a spatially accurate map (or floorplan) so that contamination within the inspection map area is clearly identified and recorded for subsequent treatment. In an alternative embodiment, the CSIS also includes a decontamination system to sanitize any identified contamination.

Active illumination-based multispectral contamination sanitation inspection system

A multimode biological sample inspection apparatus and method is provided. The apparatus includes an illumination hardware arrangement comprising transmission and sensing hardware configured to inspect a biological sample using at least two modes from a group comprising a fluorescence imaging mode, a reflectance imaging mode, a scattering imaging mode, and a Raman imaging mode, and processing hardware configured to operate the illumination hardware arrangement according to a protocol comprising inspection settings of the at least two modes. The processing hardware receives scan results from the illumination hardware arrangement and identifies attributes of the biological sample by constructing a multidimensional dataset comprising at least one spatial dimension and at least one spectral dimension from the scan results and analyzing the multidimensional dataset. The processing hardware is configured to employ the attributes of at least one biological sample and alter the protocol.

Apparatus and method for multimode analytical sensing of items such as food

A surface of the tissue is illuminated with light having a known wavelength spectrum capable of materially penetrating the tissue. The light remitted from the tissue in response to the illumination is separated into at least two distinguishable polarization components. The intensity of the illumination light remitted from the tissue is measured over a hyperspectral range of wavelengths for the at least two distinguishable polarization components. Based on the preceding measurements and a degree of linear polarization of the remitted light, data representative of the three-dimensional location and one or more characteristics of an abnormal portion of the tissue are produced. Further, the masking effect of melanin may be eliminated to obtain accurate estimations of an anomaly.

Method and system for characterizing tissue in three dimensions using multimode optical measurements

This invention comprises a smartphone and tablet deployable mobile medical application that uses device sensors, internet connectivity and cloud-based image processing to document and analyze physiological characteristics of hand arthritis. The application facilitates image capture and performs image processing that identifies hand fiduciary features and measures hand anatomical features to report and quantify the progress of arthritic disease.
