The method includes: determining that the server wants to send a notification message, wherein the server is a Download and Configuration Management (DCM) engine; querying, via a UDP broadcast processor, a database for a list of clients that have registered for one or more types of notification; receiving a reply with the list of clients that have registered for the one or more types of notification; and sending a notification to the clients on the list.
