Adjustable traction is provided in a traction cleat by selectively restricting or not the amount of flexure permitted for a dynamic traction element on the cleat. Restricting flexure is alternatively achieved by an adjustably positionable ring or by rotating the cleat to align the dynamic element with different shoe sole topographical features. A dual locking post is provided to reduce the surface area required on the cleat hub for locking structures. The cleat is formed in a two shot molding process that permits elongations of the dynamic traction elements without sacrificing the integrity of the cleat structure.

Replaceable traction cleat for footwear

A cleat for a shoe has an annular array of different types of angularly spaced traction elements disposed about and depending from a hub periphery. The array includes plural types of flexible traction elements and plural types inflexible traction elements interleaved within the array. The dynamic elements are longer than the static elements and are of two different lengths. The static elements have two different configurations. The flexible elements are sufficiently close to adjacent inflexible elements to permit grass to be trapped therebetween when the flexible elements are flexed.

The invention is a replaceable golf shoe cleat or spikefor use in place of a standard metal spike. Winter golf shoe spikepreferably has a main cleat bodymolded from a durable plastic type material in single unitary fashion. A threaded studis formed on the upper surface of generally concavo-convex flangeand protrudes axially therefrom. A plurality of traction ribsare formed on the bottom traction surface of concavo-convex flange. While the ribsmay be present in a variety of configurations, they are preferably triangular ridges arranged in a radial fashion emanating from the center of concavo-convex flange

Golf shoe cleat

An improved cleat for an athletic shoe provides for: enhanced strength and wear-resistance for the cleat traction element; and/or prevention of grass, mud and other debris from agglomerating and clogging the cleat. A resiliently flexible web is connected between adjacent traction elements to absorb the lateral and torsional forces tending to weaken the junctions between the cleat hub and the traction elements. The web is extended from the hub to prevent debris from entering the space between the shoe sole and the traction elements as well as between the traction elements themselves.

In a cleat connection assembly for replaceable cleats used on athletic shoes, a male engagement member is provided in the shoe-mounted connector element, and a recess in the cleat serves as a female connector element or receptacle for the male member. The male member projecting beyond the shoe sole is made of plastic material and is configured with a broad load bearing distal end to avoid damage to vulnerable surfaces engaged by that member when the cleat is removed from the shoe.

A shoe cleat includes a cleat receiver with a cleat engaging section, a cleat including a receiver engaging section suitably dimensioned and configured to releasably engage with the cleat receiver, and a latch member suitably dimensioned and configured to releasably engage with the cleat engaging section and the receiver engaging section. When the cleat engaging section, the receiver engaging section and the latch member are engaged with each other, the cleat is releasably secured to the cleat receiver. Upon securing the cleat to the cleat receiver, the cleat is limited or substantially prevented from rotationally, laterally and axially moving with respect to the cleat receiver.
