Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some systems, a wireless device may detect, using a sensor at the wireless device, one or more locations at which human tissue may be present within a coverage area of the sensor. The wireless device may select, from a set of beams, a beam and a corresponding transmit power. The wireless device may select the beam and the corresponding transmit power based on the detection of the one or more locations at which the human tissue is present within the coverage area of the sensor and a radio frequency coverage area of the beam. The wireless device may transmit uplink data using the selected beam and the selected transmit power.

Techniques for beam management using sensor coverage

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may monitor for a set of reference signals from a second device using a set of directional beams. The first device may perform measurements on the received reference signals and select a subset of directional beams from the set of directional beams based on the performed measurements. Each directional beam may be associated with a set of beamforming weights. The first device may communicate with the second device using a dynamic set of beamforming weights. The first device may form the dynamic set of beamforming weights using a combination of beamforming weights from each set of beamforming weights associated with the subset of directional beams. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for transmission power determination for radio frequency (RF) exposure compliance. A transmitting device, such as a user equipment (UE) may determine an uplink transmit power limit for a time window based on an RF limit and a duration of the time window. The device may use the power limit to determine an uplink transmit power based on a computed uplink transmission period for the time window that accounts for a time period during which the device is expected to actually transmit. The computed uplink transmission period may be based on one or more actual uplink transmission periods during one or more prior time windows, a predictive model, network signaling, or any combinations thereof. The device may transmit one or more uplink transmissions during the time window using the determined uplink transmit power.

A user equipment (UE) may determine a plurality of antenna configurations for a plurality of channel frequencies. The UE may determine a set of signal strengths for at least one beam received at one or more antenna configurations of the plurality of antenna configurations for at least one of the channel frequencies. The UE may select, based on the set of signal strengths, a first antenna configuration of the plurality of antenna configurations. After selection of the first antenna configuration, the UE may communicate with a base station, in one or more channel frequencies based on the first antenna configuration.
