A communication device is made with a metallic frame having an interior mounting surface for receiving one or more functional components. The metallic frame includes a first frame member having a first portion extending uninterrupted across one lateral side of the metallic frame. The first portion provides structural support to the communication device. A T-shaped slot antenna is formed in a second portion of the first frame member adjacent to the first portion. The T-shaped slot antenna has first and second arms separated at a gap and partially encompassing a slot. The second portion of the first frame member enables radio frequency communication by at least one of the functional components via the T-shaped slot antenna of the communication device.

An analog self-interference cancellation technique for In-Band Full-Duplex (IBFD) systems generates an inherent secondary self-interference (SI) signal of a circulator and uses that signal to cancel a primary SI signal leaked from a transmitter port within a communication device. The communication device manipulates the phase and angle of this secondary SI, using an adjustable Impedance Mismatch Terminal (IMT) circuit. The result is an efficient SI cancellation technique in the analog domain, which uses the circulator inherent SI signals.

Self-interference cancellation for in-band full duplex single antenna communication systems

A communication device, method and computer program product enable improved communication performance by switching or tuning antennas based on detecting touches on edge display(s) of the communication device that has at least one antenna positioned along edges of a housing assembly. A controller monitors edge display(s) of the communication device to determine portions of the edge display(s) that are touched and associates the at least one antenna that is proximate to the portions of the edge display(s) that are touched The controller configures a radio frequency front end of the communication device to switch or tune the at least one antenna in order to provide at least one of: mitigating detrimental effects to antenna performance by the at least one antenna or remaining within regulatory limits for RF transmission exposure.

A communication device, method, and computer program product provide an antenna subsystem including a first antenna positioned proximate to a second antenna. A radio frequency (RF) frontend includes a transmitter, a receiver, and an antenna tuning module coupled to the antenna(s). A controller is communicatively coupled to the RF frontend and a memory containing a proximal antenna association tuning (PAAT) application. The controller executes the PAAT application to enable the communication device to: (i) transmit a reference signal by the transmitter using the first antenna of the more than one antenna; (ii) measure an impedance value of the first antenna based on the transmission of the reference signal; (iii) identify a second antenna of the more than one antenna that is proximate to the first antenna; and (iv) tune, via the antenna tuning module, the first and the second antenna based on the impedance value of the first antenna.
