An operating method for a motor vehicle including an electronically controlled motor vehicle brake system, having an automated brake release function. A start-up request is determined electronically in an automated manner and subsequently at least one electronic command is transmitted to a parking brake actuating mechanism in order to release the brake, and the electronic unit EPB&#x2212;ESC&#x2212;ECU is networked with communication partners, for example, electronic units, sensors and/or data-bus systems in order to exchange signals and/or data with these communication partners, and including an electronic routine for providing software, configuring and/or calibrating the motor vehicle brake system. For improved operation, in a more flexible configuration routine, the routine for providing software, configuring and/or calibrating the motor vehicle brake system is embodied in a multi-level manner, and subsequent to the vehicle being produced the motor vehicle brake system includes at least self-learning properties in terms of an automated configuration routine.

Operating method for a motor vehicle comprising in particular an electronically controlled parking brake system

A parking brake having an actuator, wherein the actuator is driven by a direct current motor which can be operated in two directions. The actuator moves, via a self-locking gear mechanism of the actuator, at least one brake shoe for applying or releasing the parking brake in the direction of a rotary element or away therefrom. A control unit for performing open-loop or closed-loop control of the movement of the direct current motor is also provided. The parking brake is designed such that, when the parking brake is applied or released, an application point of the brake shoes against the rotary element is generally overshot. In order to increase the accuracy and reliability of the setting of the brake-application force when the parking brake is applied or of the brake-application clearance when the parking brake is released, the control unit determines the application point by forming the first derivative over time of the electric current taken up by the direct current motor during the application of the brake. A corresponding method for operating such a parking brake is also described.

Parking brake and method for operating same

A method for the calibration or diagnosis of a motor vehicle brake system having a cyclically operated pump. At least one parameter (U), representing the electromotor force of the reference pump, is repeatedly ascertained during operation of a reference pump under defined guidelines. A statistical characteristic variable (U) is derived from the values of parameter (U) ascertained for the reference pump. Parameter (U) is ascertained under a corresponding guideline during operation of an operating pump. Corresponding statistical characteristic variable (U) is derived from the values of parameter (U) ascertained for the operating pump. At least one ratio number is calculated as a measure of the deviation of the operating behavior of the operating pump from the operating behavior of the reference pump from the characteristic variable (U) calculated for the reference pump and the characteristic variable (U) calculated for the operating pump.

Method and device for the calibration or diagnosis of a motor vehicle brake system having a cyclically operated pump

A method of determining an initial pressure prevailing between a master brake cylinder and an inlet valve of a wheel brake cylinder of a motor vehicle determines the initial pressure taking into consideration the variation of a voltage of a PWMoperated motor of a pump, which is used for the return delivery of brake fluid from a low-pressure accumulator into the master brake cylinder. Several characteristic quantities of the voltage variation are measured and converted to respective initial pressure values. The characteristic quantities or the initial pressure values determined therefrom are filtered or conditioned in the event of lack in quality or reliability of the measured characteristic quantities. The respective initial pressure values of similar size are averaged, and the averaged initial pressure values are temporally averaged in order to dampen fluctuations.

Method of determining an initial pressure in a motor vehicle brake system

A parking brake having an actuator, wherein the actuator is driven with a direct current motor which can be operated in two directions and which moves a piston of the actuator and, via a self-locking gear mechanism of the actuator, at least one brake shoe for applying or releasing the parking brake. A control unit for performing open-loop or closed-loop control of the movement of the direct current motor is also provided. During open-loop or closed-loop control of the movement of the direct current motor for applying and/or releasing the parking brake, the control unit takes into account a hydraulic admission pressure which is currently present at the piston if the brake is applied or was present at the piston if the brake has been released when it had previously been applied. A corresponding method for operating such a parking brake is also disclosed.

A motor vehicle brake system having a hydraulic cable, via which a wheel brake module can be pressurized by a brake medium using brake pressure from a brake cylinder and to which a low pressure accumulator is connected for temporarily receiving excess brake medium, wherein the low pressure accumulator is connected to the hydraulic cable via a backflow line and a return pump interposed in the return line in order to return temporarily stored brake medium, the return pump being cyclically actuated for adjusting the pump capacity such that an activation occurs within each braking cycle during a portion of pump cycles that corresponds to the pump capacity, is intended to provide particularly high operational safety while also providing a comfortable pedal sensation.
