An internal-reflective telecentric lens system includes a first lens assembly, a reflector, and a second lens assembly. The first lens assembly includes a first lens. The second lens assembly includes a second lens, a third lens, and a fourth lens, that are disposed in sequence along a light path. The first lens assembly is configured to receive and output one or more light beams towards the reflector. The reflector is configured to reflect the light beams towards the second lens assembly. The second lens assembly is configured to receive and converge the light beams reflected by the reflector at a diaphragm between the second lens and the third lens, and transmit the light beams past the diaphragm through the third and the fourth lenses for imaging.

Internal-reflective telecentric lens system

A waveguide comprises a first surface and a second surface. The first surface comprises a first plurality of grating structures. The waveguide is configured to guide an in-coupled light beam to undergo total internal reflection between the first surface and the second surface. The first grating structures are configured to disrupt the total internal reflection to cause at least a portion of the in-coupled light beam to couple out of the waveguide and project from the first surface, the portion of the in-coupled light beam coupled out of the waveguide forming out-coupled light beams, the out-coupled light beams being configured to form an array of dots on a surface where the out-coupled light beams are projected on.

Light projecting method and device

A waveguide comprises a first surface and a second surface. The first surface comprises a first plurality of grating structures. The first surface other than the first plurality of grating structures comprises a first reflective layer. The second surface comprises a second reflective layer. The waveguide is configured to guide an in-coupled light beam to undergo reflections between the first reflective layer and the second reflective layer. The first plurality of grating structures are configured to disrupt the reflections to cause at least a portion of the in-coupled light beam to couple out of the waveguide and project from the first surface, the portion of the in-coupled light beam coupled out of the waveguide forming out-coupled light beams.

A system including: a light source, a switchable diffuser, a structured light detector, and a ToF detector. The light source and switchable diffuser are controlled to operate in concert (together, and/or with other optical and electrical elements of the system) to project pulses of collimated beams of light (interleaved between pulses of flood light) during a single image capture period, the pulses of collimated beams of light being resolvable by the structured light detector and the ToF detector within the same image capture period.

Switchable diffuser projection systems and methods

Display devices and electronic apparatuses with 3D camera modules are provided. An exemplary device comprises a display and a 3D camera module, wherein the 3D camera module comprises a depth camera module disposed at a backlight side of the display; the depth camera module comprises an edge-emitting laser and an imaging module; the edge-emitting laser is configured for emitting laser light, for the emitted laser light to penetrate the display to reach an object; and the imaging module is configured for receiving laser light reflected by the object that penetrates the display, and obtaining a depth image of the object based on the reflected laser light.

Display device and electronic apparatus with 3D camera module

A light projecting system comprises: a waveguide comprising a first surface, a second surface, and a fourth surface, at least one of the first surface or the second surface comprising a first plurality of grating structures; a light source coupling light into the waveguide to form an in-coupled light beam, wherein: each of the first grating structures is configured to disrupt the total internal reflection to cause at least a portion of the in-coupled light beam to couple out of the waveguide, and a remainder beam of the in-coupled light beam undergoing the total internal reflection being coupled out of the waveguide after the out-coupling at each of the first grating structures; a detector configured to receive and measure the remainder beam; and a processor coupled to the detector and configured to determine if a dangerous condition occurs based on the measured remainder beam.

Systems and methods for projecting and detecting light are disclosed. Systems and methods for determining surface depth information using Time-of-Flight ('ToF') detectors configured to measure time-of-flight in connection with flood light reflections, structured light reflections, and/or a fusion of both (e.g., in a selective, controlled, and/or patterned manner) are disclosed. Some portions of this disclosure also relate to embodiments of the technology configured for operation in connection with a switchable diffuser.

Systems and methods for enhanced ToF resolution

A system including a light projecting system configured to project collimated beams of light; and a switchable diffuser. The switchable diffuser is coupled to a control source. The switchable diffuser changes from a first state to a second state responsive to the source being changed from a first condition to a second condition (e.g., changing a voltage condition from 0V to 1-50V). In the first state, the switchable diffuser receives collimated beams of light, diffuses them and projects a flood light. In the second state, the switchable diffuser is substantially transparent to the plurality of collimated beams of light, and permits the collimated beams of light to propagate through and out as an array. Systems may also include a detector configured to capture flood light and dot array reflections, and/or a ToF detector configured to measure time differences between different portions of returning light reflected off of a surface.
