Distributed inter-cell interference coordination in a communications system can include: at one other femtocell system, sending channel quality information of a subordinate device communicating with the other femtocell system to the first femtocell system; receiving the channel quality information of the at least one other femtocell system at the first femtocell system; estimating an influence of a use of a resource on the communications system at the first femtocell system according to the channel quality information received by one or more of the at least one other femtocell system; and determining at the first femtocell system whether to use the resource.

Method for distributed interference coordination in a femtocell environment

In some examples, a method of transmitting data in a radio communication system is described. The method can include dividing data intended for a communication receive node into a high priority code stream and a low priority code stream. The method can also include transmitting the high priority code stream to the communication receive node and a relay node. The method can also include transmitting the low priority code stream to the communication receive node. The relay node may be configured to receive, amplify and forward the high priority code stream to the communication receive node. The communication receive node may be configured to receive the high priority code stream substantially during first time intervals and may be further configured to receive both the low priority code stream and the amplified high priority code stream substantially during second time intervals interleaved with the first time intervals.

Relay and hierarchical transmission scheme

In some examples, a method of tracking device location in a communication network is described. The method may include, detecting at a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device, location indicia from one or more access points (APs) in a vicinity of the MTC device. The method may also include determining, based on the detected location indicia, that a current location of the MTC device is different than a preceding location of the MTC device. The method may also include reporting the detected location indicia to a network end in the communication network. The network end may be configured to update location information of the MTC device in response to receiving the detected location indicia.
