An electrical connector including: an insulative housing defining plural passageways and plural contacts disposed in corresponding passageways, the contact having a base extending in a first vertical plane and a resilient contacting arm upwardly and obliquely extending from an upper end of the base, the resilient contacting arm having a bulged contacting section at a free end thereof, a retaining section sidewardly linked to one side edge of the base to retain the contact within the passageway, and a supporting section sidewardly linked to another side edge of the base with an upwardly and obliquely curved abutting section at an upper end thereof, wherein the abutting section is adapted to be outwardly deflected when the contacting arm is downwardly deflected to sidewardly press the abutting section.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing with plural passageways arranged in a hexagonal dense manner. Plural signal contacts and grounding contacts are disposed in the corresponding passageways, respectively, in a mixed manner wherein each pair of signal contacts are surrounded by eight grounding contacts. Some grounding contacts are aligned with one another along a row direction and linked together via a transverse bar, and a pair of extensions extend from the two opposite ends of the transverse bar in a column direction perpendicular to the row direction so as to have the pair of signal contacts essentially fully enclosed and shielded within a region with the boundary defined by a combination of the grounding contacts and the transverse bars.

An electrical contact is stamped from sheet metal and includes a planar main body, a resilient upper contacting arm extending from an upper end of the main body and a resilient lower contacting arm extending from a lower end of the main body. The upper contacting arm includes an upper oblique section and an upper contacting section at a free end thereof, and the lower contacting arm includes a lower oblique section and a lower contacting section at the free end thereof. The width of the contacting arm is similar to that of the main body while the width of the contacting section is smaller than one half of that of the main body.

Vertically oriented electrical contact with symmetric upper and lower resilient contacting arms

An electrical connector assembly includes a male/plug/first connector and a female/receptacle/second connector mateable with each other. The first connector includes a first plate and a plurality of first contacts retained to the first plate, and the second connector includes a second plate and a plurality of second contacts retained to the second plate. The first plate includes opposite first long side and second long side to respectively form a first alignment structure and a second alignment structure which is offset from the first alignment structure in the longitudinal direction. The second plate includes opposite third long and fourth long side to respectively form a third alignment structure and a fourth alignment structure to be coupled to the corresponding first alignment structure and second alignment structure during mating.

Board-to-board connector with alignment features

An independent loading mechanism for use with a CPU connector includes a metallic frame cooperating with a back plate module to sandwich a printed circuit board therebetween. A plurality of screw nut units are provided around the four corners of the frame. A plurality of hollow spacers are secured to the corresponding through holes of the frame so as to allow the corresponding screw nut units moveable relative to the frame along the vertical direction within a range larger than a thickness of the frame, thus avoiding improper interference between the screw nut units and the corresponding screw posts of the back plate module during sequential screwing.

An electrical connector for connecting an electronic package to a printed circuit board, includes an insulative housing with a plurality of passageways therein, and a plurality of contacts are retained in the corresponding passageways, respectively. Each contact has a main body and opposite upper and lower contacting arms extending therefrom in a symmetrical manner in the vertical direction. Each of the upper contacting arm and the lower contacting arm has a pair of spring beams spaced from each other. Each beam includes an extension section directly extending from and coplanar with the main body, an oblique section extending from the extension section and a contacting section extending from the oblique section. The distance between the oblique sections of the pair of beams is essentially same with that of the extension sections thereof, while larger than that of the contacting sections thereof.

Electrical contact for connector

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing forming plural rows of passageways wherein each row of passageways extends along a transverse direction while the plural rows are spaced from one another in a front-to-back direction perpendicular to the transverse direction. Each passageway is dimension to receive a unified contact having three sets of spring arms spaced from one another in the transverse direction. The three sets of spring arms are categorized with two outer sets and one inner set therebetween in the transverse direction. The pitch between the two neighboring sets of spring arms of each unified contact is essentially one half of the distance between one outer set of spring arms of one unified contact and another outer set of spring arms of the neighboring unified contact.

Electrical contact

An electrical contact forms opposite top surface and bottom surface. A guiding groove is formed in the top surface. A mounting section is formed at an end of the contact. In the mounting section, a securing hole extends downwardly from the guiding groove and through the bottom surface. A solder unit is received within the securing hole and reaches a conductive pad, under the contact, to which the contact is soldered by reflowing the solder unit. The guiding groove extends from an oblique section of the contact so as to assure the socket unit can be smoothly dropped into the securing hole. The solder unit can be temporarily retained within the securing hole before reflowing.

A connector includes an insulative housing, a plurality of contacts retained in the housing, and a metallic stiffener surrounding the housing. A first pivot section and a second pivot section respectively located at opposite rear and front ends of the stiffener. A first lever is pivotally mounted upon the first pivot section and a second lever is pivotally mounted upon the second pivot section. The first lever includes a first pivot mounted upon the first pivot section, and a first handle moveable between a closed position and an open position. The first pivot includes an offset section on which a load plate is pivotally mounted. The first pivot section includes a stopper limiting outward rotation of both the first lever and the load plate at more than ninety degrees so as not to hinder loading/unloading the CPU with regard to the housing in the vertical direction.

A retainer assembly includes a CPU and a retaining clip assemble together along an insertion/withdrawal direction perpendicular to a vertical direction of the CPU wherein the CPU forms a pair of sliding grooves, and the retaining clip forms a receiving space, an opening communicating the receiving space with an exterior, and a pair of retaining arms located by two sides of the receiving space and moveable along the pair of sliding grooves for allow the CPU to be received within the receiving space via said opening. The retaining arm may further optimally form a recess to receive a block of the CPU for retaining the CPU with regard to the retaining clip in the insertion/withdrawal direction. The retaining clip may or may not be mounted to the printed circuit board on which an electrical connector is mounted.

Retainer assembly for use with connector and method making the same

An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector and a cover set used with the connector. The connector includes an insulative housing and a plurality of contacts retained in the housing. Each contact extends beyond both the upper surface and the lower surface of the base of the housing. The cover set includes an upper cover and a lower cover independently detachably attached to the housing and respectively covering the upper portion and the lower portion of the housing for protecting the extending exposed contacts wherein the upper cover further provides holding/suction device for mounting the connector to the printed circuit board after the lower cover is removed.

An electrical connector assembly for connecting a CPU to a printed circuit board, includes an insulative housing, a fixing device and a retainer. The fixing device is located by one end side, and the retainer is used to load the CPU into the housing. The fixing device includes a stationary part and a moveable insertion part wherein the retainer with the CPU therein is retained to the insertion part to commonly rotate about the stationary part for positioning the retainer with the CPU therein within the housing.

An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector with an insulative housing retaining a plurality of conductive contacts therein, and a clip positioned by one end of the housing and adapted to be mounted upon a loading cavity in the housing. The clip includes a mounting section for mounting to the PCB, and a holding section forming a holding cavity for holding the CPU wherein the holding section is rotatable relative to the mounting section and adapted to be downwardly pressed by the load plate which is pivotally mounted by the other end of the housing opposite to the clip.
