A computer-implemented method, software and system for determining a service demand in a service network are disclosed. A first information indicative of prior proportion knowledge of elements of the service demand is received. Two or more elements of the service demand represent service volumes for two or more pairs of zones and the first information indicates reference relative relationships between the two or more elements of the service demand. Second information indicative of instances of service at specific locations in the service network are received. The service demand is determined by minimising a cost function. The cost function is based on the first information and the second information.

The present invention generally relates to failure prediction of an infrastructure (). A failure likelihood for one or more components of an infrastructure () is determined. History data () representing prior failures of the components of the infrastructure () is applied (-) to a Bayesian nonparametric statistical model using a beta process. Then the failure likelihood of one or more components of the infrastructure from the Bayesian nonparametric statistical model is estimated (). Bayesian nonparametric method for infrastructure failure prediction

The disclosure relates to structural health monitoring (SHM). In particular determining a health condition of a structure, such as a bridge, based on vibration data measured of the bridge. Measured vibration data is calibrated (-). Features are then extracted from the calibrated data (-) and a support vector machine classifier is then applied () to the extracted features to determine () the health condition of a part of the structure. Training of the support vector machine classifier by a machine learning process () is also described.

Verifying a user, such as, but not limited to, a user who answered questions for an unproctered test for employment. A representation of a transition pattern is stored (). Time series voice data is received from a user responding to a sequence of questions () having multiple levels of difficulty. The transition pattern in the voice data () is based on a plurality of comparisons () of subsets () of the voice data corresponding to responses to questions having one or more different levels of difficulty. A further transition pattern () is determined from voice data in the same way but based on a shorter sequence of questions (). The user is verified based on a comparison () of this further transition pattern to a previously stored transition pattern.

The present invention provides a coated optical element including an optical substrate and a primer layer that is formed by cationic polymerisation of a coating composition containing an effective amount of an epoxy monomer and a vinyl ether monomer. The optical element may be an ophthalmic lens.

Primer layer coating compositions

This invention concerns measuring cognitive load. A word based input is produced by a person while performing a task (). Predetermined grammatical features of the word based input are identified (). Then, the identified grammatical features are weighted and combined to provide a measure indicating the person's cognitive load (). The use of grammatical features represents a divergence from the known methods of providing a measure of a person's cognitive load. It is an advantage of the invention that by concentrating on the grammatical features it is able to provide an objective, non-intrusive measure of the person's cognitive load. Aspects the invention include a method, a computer system and software that are used to perform the method.

Measuring cognitive load

A computer implemented method for measuring a person's cognitive load comprises initially receivingstroke data (FIG., FIG.()) representative of hand-based strokes produced by a personwhile performing a task. A processorselectsa subset of the stroke data FIG.() that meets one or more predetermined stability criteria. A measure indicative of the person's cognitive load based on the subset of stroke data is determined. In this was the user's cognitive load in an objective, uniform and non-intrusive manner by analyzing the user's writing behavior. An analysis of all of a user's writing strokes will bias the evaluation result. The accuracy of the cognitive load measurement is increased by applying stability criteria to select the best strokes for further analysis. By disregarding unstable strokes the computation costs for determining the user's cognitive load is also improved.

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a photochromic article having a photochromic compound containing layer. The method includes the step of coating a casting face of at least one mold section with a photochromic host layer. The photochromic host layer is treated to minimize damage during subsequent steps, and a mold is then assembled so that it includes the mold section having the photochromic host layer. The mold is then filled with a photochromic article monomer composition and the monomer composition is subsequently cured to form a photochromic article substrate adhered to the photochromic host layer. The photochromic compound is introduced into the photochromic host layer.

The present invention provides a liquid casting composition for producing photochromic optical elements, the composition including: (i) an acrylate or methacrylate monomer; (ii) a photochromic compound; (iii) a terpinolene-based radical chain transfer agent; and (iv) a thermal free radical initiator. Also provided are methods for producing photochromic optical elements using the liquid casting composition and photochromic optical elements produced thereby. The photochromic optical elements include, for example, ophthalmic lenses.

Liquid casting compositions, production processes and photochromic optical elements

The present disclosure provides a method of forming a removable protective coating on a hydrophobic surface of an ophthalmic lens element. The method includes providing an ophthalmic lens element having a hydrophobic surface. A non-aqueous coating composition is applied so as to coat at least part of the hydrophobic surface. The composition includes a film forming coating polymer and a compatible non-aqueous solvent. A substantial portion of the solvent is removed from the composition to form a removable protective coating on the ophthalmic lens element that adheres to the hydrophobic surface. The disclosure also provides a removable protective coating, and an ophthalmic lens element having the coating.
