Computerized methods and systems remove background information from digitally encoded images. A digitally encoded image is retrieved and converted to greyscale if it is encoded as a color image. The greyscale image is divided into a first set of subsections. The first set of subsections is processed to individually remove any background portions from each subsection of the first set of subsections. The greyscale image may also be divided into a second set of subsections and the second set of subsections is processed to individually remove any background portions from each subsection of the second set of subsections containing contours. The first set of subsections and second set of subsections may be merged to create a new version of the image, and the new version of the image is stored to digital storage.

Removal of background information from digital images

The present disclosure is directed to identifying shapes in an image. For example, a shape identification system may identify an unknown shape represented by a B&#xe9;zier path that has at least one B&#xe9;zier curve. The shape identification system may also identify a stored B&#xe9;zier path that has at least one stored B&#xe9;zier curve, for example, in a database of known shapes. Using the B&#xe9;zier curve of the unknown shape and the stored B&#xe9;zier curve of the known shape, the shape identification system can determine a transformation matrix that transforms the transforms the B&#xe9;zier curve of unknown shape to the stored B&#xe9;zier curve of the known shape. Then, the shape identification system can compare the transformed B&#xe9;zier curve to the stored B&#xe9;zier curve to determine whether the unknown shape matches the known shape.

Identifying shapes in an image by comparing B&#xe9;zier curves

A method of mapping virtual optical networks (VONs) to a physical network that includes physical links that connect physical nodes. The method includes reading physical network information, VON demands, and technology constraints of the physical network. The method includes determining whether an iteration parameter violates an iterative condition that determines whether to continue processing the VON demands. If not, the method includes determining whether there are unprocessed subgroups of the VON demands. In response to there being unprocessed subgroups, the method includes selecting a subgroup of the VONs. The method includes computing feasible mapping patterns for the subgroup of the VONs. The method includes finding a size of a largest subset of the subgroup that has a feasible mapping and slot assignment solution. The method includes finding a mapping solution of the subset that has a feasible slot assignment and a slot assignment of the mapping solution.

Scalable provisioning of virtual optical network demands

Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate launching separate editing applications from within an electronic content creation application. A content creation application can provide one or more launch editing features for launching separate editing applications to edit the objects or object parts within content that is being created. Such launch editing can involve the content creation application analyzing one or more selected objects and/or object parts and identifying which portions should be sent to a separate editing application. The separate editing application modifies the portions and returns modified portions to the content creation application where the modified portions are incorporated or merged into the electronic content being created.

A system and method for providing layered master pages in page layout or illustration software comprises basing a layered page of a document on two or more layered master pages to provide a child page. The objects disposed on the layered master pages are interleaved with the objects disposed on the document page and output as a child page. The resultant child page image has objects on layers of the layered master pages interleaved with and/or among objects on layers of the document page.

This specification describes technologies that relate to creating animation effects in an animation at runtime and without requiring the animation effects to be stored in every frame or time instance of the animation. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in a method that includes obtaining animation information having a primary object and a first effect object associated with the primary object. The method also includes generating an animation sequence using the animation information. The animation sequence includes the primary object on which the first effect object and a second effect object can be applied. The act of generating an animation sequence includes interpolating between the first and second effect objects to create at least one intermediate effect applied to the primary object in the animation sequence. The preferred embodiment method for providing a perspective view of an object in the two dimensional drawing environment, comprises the steps of creating a two dimensional perspective grid drawing environment; drawing an object in the two dimensional drawing environment; selecting a grid in the two dimensional drawing environment; and applying the drawn object to the selected grid thereby automatically providing a perspective view of the object.

The inventive mechanisms convert a path, which represents a graphical object, into a plurality of line segments. Thus, the path can be reshaped without respect to existing Bezier control points. The first mechanism allows a user to 'pull' a segment of a path. A user selects a specific place on the path, pulls the selected place along with a portion of the path on either side of the place to a desired location. The second mechanism allows a user to 'push' a segment of a path, by using an arbitrary shape and sculpting the path. The arbitrary shape is used in a manner similar in which a sculptor would use a putty knife and sculpts away part of the path, by pushing that shape into the path. The path is being repelled from the shape, as the shape is being pushed. The third mechanism allows a user to reshape an area or region of the path. The user selects a specific point in space and modify any parts of the path that lie within that region of space.
