Ionic liquids may be used in reservoir stimulation operations for treatment of a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir. For example, methods of treatment may include: introducing a treatment fluid to a subterranean reservoir during a stimulation operation, wherein the treatment fluid comprises: an ionic liquid, wherein the ionic liquid comprises an organic cation and a halide-terminated anion; and dissolving a portion of the subterranean reservoir with the treatment fluid.

A bottom hole assembly includes a production logging tool including a spinner flowmeter for determination of flow velocity within production tubing, and a downhole scale removal tool coupled to the production logging tool. The downhole scale removal tool includes an elongate body defining an internal flowpath therein, one or more openings defined on an outer surface of the elongate body, the one or more openings fluidly coupled to the internal flowpath, and a plurality of solid bristles disposed on an outer surface of the elongate body and extending radially from the elongate body.

A downhole sampling tool includes a tool body defining an opening therein for drawing a formation fluid into the downhole sampling tool. At least one sampling vessel is carried in the tool body and is operatively coupled to the opening to receive the formation fluid therein. A closure member is selectively engageable with the opening to prohibit flow of the formation fluid through the opening, and a biasing mechanism is operably coupled to the closure member. The biasing mechanism biases the closure member into engagement with the opening and is responsive to an increase in hydraulic pressure on the exterior of the sampling tool to a predetermined threshold pressure to permit movement of the closure member away from the opening and permit flow of the formation fluid through the opening and into the sampling vessel.

The colloidal silica gel occupies a volume extending from the base and sidewalls of the well cellar to the exterior surface of the wellhead component. An injection fluid composition includes a treatment agent and a carrier fluid. The treatment agent includes a material having a reactive surface functionality. The material having a reactive surface functionality is selected from the group consisting of graphite, graphene, activated carbon, and combinations thereof. Additionally, a method of treating a sludge in production tubing is presented. The method includes injecting a first fluid including a treatment agent in a carrier fluid into the production tubing, contacting the sludge with the treatment agent, maintaining the first fluid downhole such that the treatment agent adheres on a surface of the sludge, injecting a second fluid comprising a stimulating agent to stimulate the treatment agent, and extracting compounds of the sludge from the production tubing.

A system includes a casing, a tubing within the casing, a packer, and a colloidal silica gel. The casing inner surface and the tubing outer surface define an annular space, and the packer is within the annular space. The colloidal silica gel which seals a gap. The gap can be a gap between the inner surface of the casing and a surface of the packer, a gap between the outer surface of the tubing and a surface of the packer, and/or a gap extending through the packer. A well can include such a system. A method of sealing a leak in or near a packer present in an annular space between a production casing inner surface and a tubing outer surface includes disposing a composition within the annular space, the composition comprising colloidal silica, water, and an activator. The method also includes allowing colloidal silica to precipitate from the composition to provide a colloidal silica gel within the annular space, wherein the colloidal silica seals a gap that can be a gap between the inner surface of the production casing and a surface of the packer, a gap between the outer surface of the tubing and a surface of the packer, and/or a gap extending through the packer.
