A method for surveilling with a vehicle includes receiving an area-of-interest data from a vehicle user. The area-of-interest data delineates a virtual fence around the vehicle. The virtual fence is boundary of an area of interest around the vehicle. The vehicle is parked adjacent to an infrastructure. The method further includes receiving sensor data from a sensor of the vehicle that is monitoring the area of interest. Further, the method includes detecting a predetermined activity by a predetermined object of interest within the area of interest based on the sensor data received from the sensor of the vehicle. Also, the method includes notifying the vehicle user of the predetermined activity sensed using the sensor of the vehicle.

Vehicle surveillance system

Methods and systems are provided for controlling thermal conditioning of a battery system associated with brakes of a vehicle towing a trailer. In one embodiment, a method includes: determining, by a processor, that a temperature of the battery system is outside of a defined temperature range; determining, by the processor, a delta value between a brake request and a battery charge limit; generating, by the processor, a control signal to at least one of a heater and a compressor of the vehicle based on the delta value; generating, by the processor, a control signal to the battery system to initiate regeneration braking; and generating, by the processor, a braking reduction request to reduce braking by the trailer.

Methods and systems for enhanced thermal braking for electric vehicle applications

A vehicle off-guard monitoring system includes an automobile vehicle having multiple sensor inputs capturing sensor data representing hazards including garage fires, excessive water or flooding, rain, snow, and at least one person loitering proximate to the automobile vehicle. A database has multiple saved images of the hazards. A computer compares the multiple saved images to the sensor data captured by the multiple inputs to identify if at least one match exists between any one of the multiple saved images of the hazards and the sensor data and when the at least one match exists generating a predefined warning signal. A smart-phone application in communication with the computer and a remote system signals the predefined warning signal to a user of the automobile vehicle to mitigate against damage occurring to the automobile vehicle.

Vehicle off-guard monitoring system

A method and apparatus that detect wheel misalignment are provided. The method includes predicting a self-aligning torque parameter based on a regression model determined from a dataset including one or more from among a steering wheel angle parameter, a speed parameter, a torsion bar torque parameter, a lateral acceleration parameter, and a power steering torque parameter, comparing a measured self-aligning torque parameter and the predicted self-aligning torque parameter, and outputting a wheel alignment condition indicating whether the wheel alignment is proper if the self-aligning torque parameter and the predicted self-aligning torque parameter are within a predetermined value based on the comparing.

Apparatus and method that detect wheel alignment condition

An apparatus and method that detect a wheel alignment condition are provided. The method includes receiving a dataset comprising one or more from among a steering wheel angle parameter, a speed parameter, a lateral acceleration parameter, a self-aligning torque parameter and a power steering torque parameter, normalizing the received dataset, analyzing the normalized dataset according to a model for determining a wheel alignment condition, and outputting a value indicating whether the wheel alignment is within a predetermined value based on the model.

Examples of techniques for vehicle suspension system alignment monitoring are disclosed. In one example implementation, a method includes receiving vehicle data and environmental data including, inertial measurement unit (IMU) acceleration data and global positioning system (GPS) velocity data from a GPS associated with the vehicle, and steering wheel angle data, driver applied torque data, and electronic power steering (EPS) applied torque data associated with the steering system. The method further includes mitigating for at least one of a vehicle effect and an environmental effect based on the vehicle data and environmental data. The method further includes detecting a misalignment based at least in part on one or more of the IMU acceleration data, the GPS velocity data, acceleration data, a steering wheel angle, and a self-aligning torque. The method further includes reporting the misalignment of the vehicle based at least in part on detecting the misalignment.

Vehicle suspension system alignment monitoring

Examples of techniques for determining tire leak rate are disclosed. In one example implementation, a method includes receiving, by a processing device, temperature data, pressure data, tire characteristics, and an estimated leak rate associated with the tire. The method further includes calculating, by the processing device, a temperature normalized fused pressure after fusing the temperature data and the pressure data. The method further includes determining, by the processing device, the tire leak rate based at least in part on a decay of the temperature normalized fused pressure over time. The method further includes providing, by the processing device, an alert to an operator of the vehicle that a leak is detected based at least in part on a comparison between the tire leak rate and a leak rate threshold.

In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving data indicating a vehicle condition; selectively computing a use life of the air filter based on pressure data and the received data; and selectively generating at least one of a notification signal and a notification message based on the use life.

Methods and systems are provided for controlling a suspension system of a vehicle. In one embodiment, the method includes: receiving, by a processor, sensor data indicative of conditions of a roadway in a path of the vehicle; determining, by a processor, a continuous road profile based on the sensor data; and selectively controlling, by a processor, at least one suspension element of the vehicle based on the continuous road profile.
