A method for managing the storage of a client workload is disclosed. A storage management system is provided. The storage management system is operable to communicatively connect to a remote client computing device via a network. The storage management system includes a block-based storage medium, a file-based storage medium, and an object-based storage medium. A virtual image, which is associated with a remote client computing device, is stored. Elements of the virtual image are allocated across one or more of the block-based storage medium, the file-based storage medium, and the object-based storage medium, where the allocation depends on a characterization of the elements.

Systems and methods for managing storage for client workloads

Systems and methods are disclosed that provide WUSB (wireless universal serial bus) and wireless audio/video interfaces within a single device by integrating a Bluetooth subsystem with a WUSB hub and by providing shared operation between the UWB (ultra wide band) and Bluetooth subsystems. In one embodiment, a system includes both a UWB subsystem and a Bluetooth subsystem that are configured to share one or more operational parameters, such as device pairing information. As such, Bluetooth subsystems and the WUSB subsystems are allowed to cooperate and share information to streamline operation, and this streamlining allows the Bluetooth subsystem to handle isochronous operations, such as audio/video communications, and allows the UWB subsystem to continue to handle USB connected peripheral devices. The disclosed systems with WUSB and wireless audio/video interfaces can also be included as subsystems within other devices, such as display monitors or speaker systems for computer systems.

A system and method for personalizing a device is disclosed herein. A user configures a plurality of settings associated with a device. Each setting is identified as a user setting or a platform setting. The user settings are stored in a personalization virtual object with the user. Platform settings are stored separately from the personalization virtual object. Software for personalizing a device provided on a computer readable medium is disclosed herein. The software comprises a code for execution on a central processing unit operable to configure a plurality of settings associated with a device by a user. The software identifies each setting as a user setting or a platform setting. The user settings are stored in a personalization virtual object associated with the user, and the platform settings are stored separately from the personalization virtual object.

System and method for personalizing devices

A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for automatically allocating resources to a virtual machine. Expected workload profile data and application utilization data corresponding to a software application associated with a virtual machine (VM) is collected by an application profiling agent. Resource utilization data corresponding to the utilization of resources associated with the execution of the software application is collected by a system resource monitor. The expected workload profile data, the application utilization data, and the resource utilization data are then processed to determine a virtual machine workload class, which is then used to determine a corresponding VM policy. Data associated with the VM policy then processed to generate VM resource allocation instructions, which are in turn processed to provision the VM.

A method for determining the offload type for the processing of the protocol of a network connection is disclosed. An offload policy manager in a server node determines the offload type on the basis of a number of factors, including the application type of the network connection, the traffic priority of the network connection, and the port of the network connection. After the offload policy manager selects the offload type of the network connection, the offload policy manager identifies the offload type to the offload engine, which processes the protocol of the network connection according to the offload type selected by the offload policy manager. The offload policy manager is able to access a number of application-specific tables. The offload policy manager selects an offload type by cross-referencing on an application-specific table the traffic priority of the network connection against the port of the network connection.

A split architecture wireless access point (SAAP) extends a traditional wireless access point (TRAP) network by selectively interfacing or isolating a SAAP network with a deployed TRAP of the TRAP wireless network. The SAAP has a split architecture that interfaces with the TRAP as a client of the TRAP network and supports the SAAP network as a router. For instance, a client module communicates as a client of the TRAP wireless network over a TRAP channel and a router module routes information between clients of the SAAP network over a SAAP channel, the SAAP wireless network to advantageously benefit streaming of audiovisual information and other usages of the TRAP and SAAP wireless networks. A control module selectively allows communication between the router and client modules to support communication between information handling systems associated with the SAAP wireless network and the TRAP wireless network.

When the system changes to a second mode of operation, the interference suppression apparatus updates the filter characteristics to filter characteristics which are appropriate for suppressing interference associated with the second mode of operation.
