A computational device receives a request to create a logical unit. In response to determining that adequate space is not available to create the logical unit in a first type of storage pool, a determination is made as to whether a first indicator is configured to allow borrowing of storage space from a second type of storage pool. In response to determining that the first indicator is configured to allow borrowing of storage space from the second type of storage pool, the logical unit is created in the second type of storage pool The logical unit is moved from the second type of storage pool to the first type of storage pool, in response to determining that free space that is adequate to store the logical unit has become available in the first type of storage pool.

Creation of logical units via borrowing of alternative storage and subsequent movement of the logical units to desired storage

For predicting and generating a quantity of image clones, a provision module provisions a specified number of a specified image clone to an image pool. The specified number N1 is calculated as N1=N0+CEIL(SE). N0 is a number of the specified image clones provisioned during a previous provisioning operation. SE is a storage estimate. CEIL rounds SE up to a nearest integer. A deployment module deploys a first image clone from the image pool in a subsequent deployment in response to a request.

Predicting and generating a quantity of image clones

A determination is made as to whether a first indicator is configured to allow borrowing of storage space to a first type of storage pool from a second type of storage pool. In response to determining that the first indicator is configured to allow borrowing of storage space from the second type of storage pool, a logical unit is created in the second type of storage pool and a listener application is initiated. The listener application determines that free space that is adequate to store the logical unit has become available in the first type of storage pool. The logical unit is moved from the second type of storage pool to the first type of storage pool, in response to determining, via the listener application, that free space that is adequate to store the logical unit has become available in the first type of storage pool.

An approach is provided that displays visual indicators on a financial services card, such as a credit or debit card, that indicates the user's balance at a financial services provider. Available funds data is received at a financial services card that includes visual indicators (e.g., LEDs, etc.), a memory, a processor, a power source, and a wireless transmitter. The available funds data is received via the wireless transmitter. Visual indicators are selected based on the available funds data received from the financial services provider. In one embodiment, the power source is a piezoelectric material, such as a piezoelectric crystal, that generates power to activate the visual indicators and run the processors and wireless transmitter based on manipulation of the card (e.g., applying pressure, etc. to the card) by the user.
