A method computes a final image of an area surrounding a vehicle, from at least one image captured in a first angular portion of the area surrounding the vehicle by a camera and a distance between the vehicle and a point in the surrounding area, which distance is determined, in a second angular portion located in one of the first angular portions, by at least one measurement sensor. The method includes capturing an image and, for each captured image, correcting a distortion in the captured image to generate a corrected image; for each corrected image, transforming the perspective of the corrected image using a matrix storing a pre-calculated distance between the camera and a point in the corresponding surrounding area; and adding the transformed images to obtain the final image. The perspective transforming includes adjusting the pre-calculated distance to the distance determined by the measurement sensor.

System and method for computing a final image of an area surrounding a vehicle

A method of controlling a frequency selection of a PLL used in cooperation with a device of a wireless communication network, such as a Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) network, the method comprising: &#x2014;receiving a first set of signal measurements; &#x2014;comparing the first set of signal measurements with a first threshold and, selectively switching the PLL frequency from a first value to a second value as a result of the comparison of the first set of signal measurements with the first threshold; &#x2014;further receiving a second set of signal measurements; and, &#x2014;comparing the second set of signal measurements with a second threshold, different from the first threshold, and selectively switching the PLL frequency from the second value to the first value as a result of the comparison of the second set of signal measurements with the second threshold.

A method permits a UE receiver to detect and report to the network a scrambling code collision (i.e., two neighbor cells transmitting with the same scrambling code while timing is aligned). The UE receiver decodes the PCCPCH's physical channel with all the associated broadcast information while a scrambling code collision at the UE is present. The UE reports SFN-SFN information to the network, to insure the UE mobility and then prepare the handover to a new detected cell. This process and a respective apparatus are usable in the presence of MIMO and further improve the detection of the scrambling code collision in the presence of MIMO.

A wireless communication system includes a primary station which has a transmitter for transmitting wireless signals on a downlink, and a plurality of secondary stations each having a receiver for receiving signals on the downlink and a transmitter for transmitting on an uplink. In a normal, loaded condition a synchronization channel and a data channel are present on the downlink and closed power control is achieved by measuring the signal to interference ratio (SIR) in a received downlink transmission, comparing the measured SIR with a target SIR and sending a power adjust indication on the uplink to cause the primary station to adjust its transmitted power on the downlink. The secondary station monitors the downlink and, in response to detecting an unloaded cell condition, determines a target SIR offset which it applies to the target SIR to overcome interference from the presence of the synchronization channel on the downlink.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with multiple power amplifiers and antennas in a mobile transmitter, such as a user equipment for a cellular telephone communication system, has such great impacts on the transmitter's battery life, form factor, and complexity that it should not be used unless its benefits clearly outweigh its costs. Methods and apparatus enable the benefits of MIMO by beam-forming and antenna-switching to be obtained without incurring the drawbacks of increased current consumption due to multiple power amplifiers.

A process for cancelling inter-cell interference between neighboring cells in a synchronized OFDM communication system allowing communication between one User Equipment (UE) fitted with at least two antennas and one serving base station is provided. The process allows multi-antenna mobile receiver in a UE to receive downlink information from a base station that includes both information relating to proper communication with the base station and additional information that was received by the base station from a neighboring base station that provides interference data about another UE. The multi-antenna UE is adapted to use the downlink information in its receiver circuitry to cancel the interference from the other UE.

Process for inter-cell interference cancellation in a synchronized OFDM system, and apparatus for the same

A process and receiver for canceling interference generated by a set interference base stations in a synchronized OFDM communication system and receiver in a User Equipment comprising a set of Nrx antennas. The process and receiver that cancels interference generated by a set of base stations performs OFDM demodulation on a receiver signal for each antenna of a user equipment (UE). The process and receiver also monitors each UE antenna for pilot signals generated by nearby base stations. Then the process or receiver extracts the pilot signals and establishes a list of existing base station antennas. The channel power of any interfering antennas is measured and then the Nrx-N most powerful antenna is selected. The process or receiver then performs a joint detection of the N useful Data Symbols (UDS), together with the (Nrx-N) Interfering Data Symbols (IDS) that are demodulated by demodulation blocks. Thus, after being detected, the Nrx-N most powerful IDSs can be encoded and re-injected into a cancellation loop.

A MIMO receiver for processing N data streams received by N antennas for a direct-sequence spread-spectrum wireless communication system comprising a linear equalizer operating at the chip level for performing linear chip level Inter-Chip Interference and all Inter-Stream Interference cancellation of said N data streams, and generating N output chip level data streams; de-spreading blocks for separately de-spreading the N outputs of the linear equalizer; and a non linear detector for performing spatial equalization and multi-stream detection.

In a receiver of a UMTS telecommunication system a process for performing the Outer Loop power control in a User Equipment is provided. The receiver includes an improved outer loop power control mechanism that estimates a Signal to Interference target (SIR) based on a Block Error Rate target (BLER) received from a base station. The outer loop control mechanism estimates a BLER value (BLER) based on a number of received blocks and then adjusts a SIR target value (SIR) based on the relationship between BLERand BLER. Meanwhile, simultaneously in parallel, the outer loop power control mechanism monitors for a potential convergence of a first SIR value with the SIRand upon detection of such potential convergence applying a correction to SIR.
