(Per)fluoropolyether derivatives

The present invention relates to a phosphazene compound [compound (L)] comprising a cyclophosphazene central core wherein each phosphorus atom of said core bears a substituent independently selected from: a) a chain (A), said chain (A) comprising a (per)fluoropolyether chain [chain (R)], one or more aromatic or heteroaromatic moieties [moiety/ies (Ar)] and, optionally, one or more hydroxy groups and b) a chain (B), said chain (B) comprising a (per)fluoropolyether chain [chain (R)] and one or more hydroxy groups with the proviso that at least one phosphorous atom of the central core is substituted with chain (A) and to mixtures of compounds (L). The invention further relates to methods for preparing compounds (L), to lubricant compositions comprising compounds (L) and to methods for lubricating magnetic recording media comprising applying a compound (L) or a lubricant compositions containing them to the surface of said medium.

The present invention relates to a process for increasing the content of bifunctional species in mixtures of non functional, mono- and bifunctional (per)fluoropolyethers which comprises the adsorption of a (per)fluoropolyether mixture onto an adsorbing stationary phase, a first desorption step with a supercritical fluid only and a second desorption step with the supercritical fluid and a mixture of a polar solvent.

Process for enriching the difunctional content of (per) fluopolyether mixtures

A process for purifying a polyol (per)fluoropolyether derivative [polyol (P)] from a mixture of hydroxyl (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [mixture (M)]. Such polyol (P) comprising one or more hydroxyl (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPE (OH)] comprising at least one (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene chain (chain R) and at least one end-group having formula (t) &#x2014;CFCHOCHCH(OH)CHOCHCH(OH)CHOH. Such mixture (M) comprising the polyol (P) and at least one PFPE (OH) different from the polyol (P) and comprising at least one chain Rand at least one end-group selected from end-groups having formula (t) &#x2014;CFCHOH and formula (t) &#x2014;CFCHOCHCH(OH)CHOH. The process comprises the steps of: 1) reacting the mixture (M) with a ketone, an aldehyde or a combination thereof to yield corresponding mixture of cyclic ketal/acetal (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPEs (OH)] [protected mixture (P)]; 2) carrying out a molecular distillation of the protected mixture (P) to isolate a protected product heavy residue [product (P)]; 3) hydrolyzing the product (P) to yield deprotected product [product (P)]; and 4) carrying out a distillation under reduced pressure of the product (P) to obtain polyol (P).
