The invention relates to a device and a method for the status monitoring of a pressure measuring unit in an absolute or differential or relative pressure transducer, a pressure-sensitive element installed in the pressure measuring unit being impinged with at least one pressure generated by at least one membrane. During a defined diagnosis time interval, a testing element integrated in the pressure measuring unit is induced to undergo a change in volume, preferably by electrical activation. The pressure difference caused as a result in the pressure measuring unit is registered by a pressure-sensitive element. The curve registered during a diagnosis time interval is compared with a reference curve recorded with the pressure measuring unit intact. A fault indication is given if the deviations between the registered curve and the reference curve exceed predetermined tolerance values.

Device and method for the status monitoring of a pressure measuring unit

The invention relates to a magnetic-inductive measuring device for flowing substances with at least one subsystem respectively for carrying the substances, recording measuring signals through a signal pickup, generating a magnetic field through at least two exciting coils and a ferromagnetic core and bounding the measuring device on the ambient side of the housing. A technique to optimize both the production schedule and the maintenance of plant assets based on predetermined criteria which may be economic or otherwise. In one embodiment the technique receives at least one maintenance trigger (MT) and one production order and evaluates those inputs to propose one or more solutions for the joint scheduling of the asset maintenance and required plant production. In another embodiment a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) acquires a new MT and proposes a new maintenance schedule. The technique transmits a blocking order to a production scheduling (PS) system for converting the maintenance request into a production schedule. In another embodiment, a CMMS acquires a new MT and asks for confirmation of a time slot to perform the maintenance action. The technique evaluates the priorities and finds based on the predetermined criteria the right time slot and communicates a request for that slot to the PS.

Method and device for the rapid detection of short-circuits in an electrical network. The method is based on estimating the electrical characteristics of the short-circuit load and calculating the peak value of the current on the basis of N successive samplings of the instantaneous current (i(t)). If the calculated value, typically available before the current actually attains this value, is greater than a pre-established threshold (Icc), a signal (C) is emitted indicative of a short-circuit fault. The calculation of the peak value may occur automatically for example upon switching on, or be subject to the exceeding of a guard threshold (Is) by the instantaneous current (i(t)). Moreover, the method makes it possible concurrently to determine the value of the power factor of the short-circuit (cos &phgr;) and the phase of the voltage at the moment of the short-circuit.

Method for detecting short-circuit conditions and device which uses this method

An electric power distribution system having a number of automatic protection breakers distributed on various levels is disclosed herein. Each protection breaker includes an electronic protection unit to open the breaker, which is controlled based on the amount of current flowing through the breaker and its derivative. Each of the breakers is preferably connected in order to exchange information concerning their respective status. Also disclosed herein is method for controlling the intervention sequence of the mutually interlocked breakers, in which a breaker reports a detected fault condition to its next higher level breaker.
