The present disclosure provides for a bicomponent fiber that includes a first region formed of a condensation polymer and a second region formed from a polyethylene blend. The polyethylene blend includes (i) an ethylene-based polymer having a density of 0.920 g/cmto 0.970 g/cmand a melt index, I, as determined by ASTM D1238 at 190° C. and 2.16 kg of 0.5 to 150 g/10 minutes; (ii) a maleic anhydride-grafted polyethylene; and (iii) an inorganic Brønsted-Lowry acid having an acid strength pKa value at 25° C. of 1 to 6.5, wherein the polyethylene blend has a 0.03 to 0.5 weight percent of grafted maleic anhydride based on the total weight of the polyethylene blend. The first region is a core region of the bicomponent fiber and the second region is a sheath region of the bicomponent fiber, where the sheath region surrounds the core region.

Bicomponent fiber and polymer composition thereof

Disclosed is a curly fiber having a fiber centroid and comprising a first region having a first centroid and a second region wherein the first region comprises an ethylene/alpha olefin interpolymer composition in an amount of at least 75 weight percent based on total weight of the first region and wherein the ethylene/alpha olefin interpolymer composition is characterized by a low temperature peak and a high temperature peak on an elution profile via improved comonomer composition distribution (ICCD) procedure, and a full width at half maximum of the high temperature peak is less than 6.0° C. and the second region is a material comprising a polymer which is different from the ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer of the first region and wherein the regions are arranged such that at least one of the first centroid and the second centroid is not the same as the fiber centroid.

Crimped multi-component fibers

A nonwoven fabric comprises at least one fiber having a first component prepared from at least 75 wt. % of bimodalethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer composition, wherein the ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer composition is characterized by: a density in the range of 0.930 to 0.965 g/cm, a melt index (I2) in the range of from 10 to 60 g/10 minutes, wherein the I2 is measured according to ASTM D1238, 190 C, 2.16 kg, a molecular weight distribution, expressed as the ratio of the weight average molecular weight to number average molecular weight (M/M) as determined by GPC of from 1.5 to 2.6, a tan delta at 1 radian/second of at least 45, a low temperature peak and a high temperature peak on an elution profile via improved comonomer composition distribution (ICCD) procedure, and a full width at half maximum of the high temperature peak is less than 6.0° C.

Non-woven fabric having ethylene/alpha-olefin polymer fibers

A process comprising forming fibers having at least a first region and a second region wherein the first region comprises an ethylene/alpha olefin interpolymer composition characterized by: density in the range of 0.930 to 0.965 g/cm; melt index (I2) in the range of from 10 to 60 g/10 minutes; molecular weight distribution in the range of from 1.5 to 2.6; tan delta at 1 radian/second of at least 45; a low temperature peak and a high temperature peak on an elution profile via improved comonomer composition distribution (ICCD) procedure; and full width at half maximum of the high temperature peak is less than 6.0° C. and stretching the fibers to an elongation of at least 20% thereby increasing curl of the fiber. The process may further include forming a non-woven from the fibers and the stretching of the fibers may occur before or after forming of the non-woven.

Method of manufacture of curly fibers

A uniaxially-oriented ethylene-based polymeric film having at least one layer comprising at least 65 wt. %, based on total amount of materials present in the at least one layer, of a linear low density polyethylene which exhibits each of the following properties: a CDBI of at least 60%; a melt index, I2, measured according to ASTM D 1238 (2.16 kg @190&#xb0; C.), of 1.8 g/10 min to 10 g/10 min; a density of from 0.910 g/cc to 0.940 g/cc; and a Mw/Mn of less than 3.0.

Uniaxially-oriented polymeric films, and articles made therefrom

Disclosed herein is a multilayer laminate comprising a film comprising an ethylene-based elastomer; a first non-woven layer in contact with a first surface of the film; and a second non-woven layer in contact with a second surface of the film; wherein the second surface of the film is opposedly disposed to the first surface of the film; wherein at least one of the first non-woven layer or the second non-woven layer comprises a non-woven web; and wherein the non-woven web is formed from a bicomponent fiber having a first component comprising an polyethylene-based polymer and a second component comprising a polymer having a melting point that is higher than the polyethylene-based polymer, wherein at least a portion of a surface of the bicomponent fiber comprises the first component.

Elastic laminates, method of manufacture thereof and articles comprising the same

A multilayer film including a core layer and two skin layers, wherein the core layer is positioned between the two skin layers, wherein the core layer includes a polyethylene composition including a high density polyethylene having a density of 0.930-0.965 g/cc and a melt index of 0.7-10.0 g/10 min, and wherein each skin layer independently includes a polypropylene composition including greater than 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of the polypropylene composition, of a propylene-based polymer.

Multilayer films, and articles made therefrom

Disclosed herein is a cast film comprising a polyethylene composition comprising the reaction product of ethylene and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers, wherein said polyethylene composition is characterized by the following properties: a melt index, I2, measured according to ASTM D1238 (2.16 kg, 190&#xb0; C.), of from 1 to 20 g/10 min; a density (measured according to ASTM D792) of from 0.935 to 0.970 g/cm3; a melt flow ratio, I/I, wherein Iis measured according to ASTM D1238 (10 kg, 190&#xb0; C.) of from 5.5 to 7.0; a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of from 2.2 to 3.5; and a vinyl unsaturation of greater than 0.12 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of the composition.

Cast films, and articles made therefrom

A multilayer polyethylene film comprising a core layer, a first outer layer, and a second outer layer, wherein the core layer is positioned between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, the core layer comprises a linear low density polyethylene and, optionally, a first low density polyethylene resin, and the first outer layer and the second outer layer independently comprise a polyethylene resin and, optionally, a second low density polyethylene resin, wherein the density of the linear low density polyethylene is less than the density of the polyethylene resin.
