A method for adjusting an estimated height of the center of gravity (HCOG) value of a vehicle includes concomitant calculations, based on parameters dependent on the HCOG value and parameters independent from the HCOG value. The method further comprises the adjustment of a parameter related to the HCOG value.

A method for controlling the braking system of a vehicle when the vehicle is switching from a standstill state where parking brake is applied to a driving state includes at least the following steps: a) detecting at least one starting condition of the vehicle, b) determining at least one parking condition of the vehicle, c) assessing whether said parking condition is favorable or unfavorable, d) if said parking condition is considered to be favorable at step c), starting to release the parking brake, and e) after step d), starting to apply the service brake.

Method for controlling the braking system of a vehicle

A method is provided for estimating the height of the gravity center of a vehicle having at least a front axle and a rear axle each carrying at least two wheels. The method includes determining a first braking period and a second braking period occurring along road portions having substantially the same slope, but where the first and second braking periods result in different vehicle decelerations, and during both braking periods, estimating at least the following variables: vehicle acceleration; the wheel slippage rate for the front and rear axles; the braking forces or braking torque at each of the front and rear axles, or a ratio thereof; and the slope of the corresponding road portion. The method also includes estimating, using only the foregoing estimations made during both periods, the vehicle center of gravity height.
