The terminal has a first address, called own address. The method includes: acquiring a set of data, called status data, including at least one address of at least one second terminal known to the network; and connecting to the network using the address of the second terminal as a replacement for the own address.

The energy consumption of the secondary link is less than that of the first communication link. The method includes establishing validity of a criterion relative to data traffic on at least one of the main or secondary link, and on the basis of the validity of the criterion, managing activation of the at least one link.

Management of network connections

A method of waking up a device is described. The device can be connected to a first network, comprising an access apparatus via which the device is able to access a second network. The device can include a plurality of network interfaces, and respective addresses, for communication with the access apparatus. The method can include prior storage in a memory accessible by the access apparatus of a correspondence table including a plurality of correspondences between the addresses and at least one parameter identifying the device. When the access apparatus receives a wakeup command with respect to the device, the command including an address, the addresses relating to the device are determined by cross-checking in the table, and the access apparatus transmits to the device at least one wakeup command including a resulting address.

Method and apparatus for remotely waking up a device connected to a network

One embodiment relates to data routing using first and second pieces of IP type equipment, the second piece of equipment being suitable for communicating with a management node of a sensor network. The sensors may have respective IP addresses that are generated by said management node, the node also having a function of routing data in the sensor network. The method includes, in a router, generating an address for the second piece of equipment, verifying the availability of the address in the sensor network from the management node, and if the address is available, requesting the management node to add the second piece of equipment in the sensor network.

A method for managing an address in a local area network using an access device allowing access to an extended communication network. The address allows a device of the local area network to communicate with other devices by using the access device. The access device then sends, to a device of the local area network, a message relating to an address in the local area network associated with the device. The message indicates that the address is no longer valid from the start time. The access device implements at least one action leading to an absence of a valid address for the device of the local area network, as long as the end time of the access control rule is not exceeded.

Technique for managing an address in a local area network

The invention relates to a mediation technique carried out by a first device in a residential network. In said residential network, a software abstraction module offering an abstraction service of a technique for controlling access to the underlying media is executed by the first device. The first device receives a request to join the residential network from a second device via a wireless communication channel and verifies whether the second device is capable of executing the abstraction software module. When the second device is incapable of executing said software module, the first device allocates an address identifying the second device in the residential network according to a format compatible with the execution of the software module and executes the software abstraction module as a proxy of the second device.

The method includes the following steps, implemented by a data processing module: acquiring information related to the operating phases, in progress or forthcoming, for at least two household appliances, the information related to an operating phase for a household appliance including the power used by the household appliance during the phase; determining, on the basis of the acquired information, at least one operating phase of one of the appliances to be interrupted so as to minimize peak power use; and interrupting the determined operating phase.
